Help Save Delteria.
Delteria needs YOUDelteria is very much in dire need of quality developers. It is no secret at this point that this project has been under development for years now. Quite honestly, we've suffered many setbacks during this period. However despite such shortcomings, in some fashion or other, we've managed to hold things together and complete a large amount of work in the process. We currently have only a few staff members, largely due to real life obligations. The hour is late at this point, and, we require the strength of the Graal community to see things through to a successful re-release. Delteria's levels and gfx are nearly complete as a whole, but we are dramatically lacking quality script help and could use a gani member or two. What Delteria is looking for specificallyScripting Dev Team Members: Join Delteria's NAT department if you believe you possess an above-average knowledge and comfort level with GS2. Depending upon your activity, trustworthiness, and skill level, you will be working on things ranging from Events to Core Systems and Sub-Systems. Levels Dev Team Members : Join Delteria's LAT department if you believe you possess an above-average ability to work with custom tilesets and produce aesthetically-pleasing results. Depending upon your activity, trustworthiness, and skill level, you will be working on things ranging from Events to main overworld level components. GFX Dev Team Members: Join Delteria's GFX department if you believe you possess an above-average ability to create quality, custom works of pixel art, and are able to match or closely match our default GFX style. GANI Dev Team Members: Join Delteria's Gani department if you believe you possess an above-average ability to create quality ganis. Familiarity with gani scripts is also recommended though is not required. Administration: For certain "trusted" members of the community (globals, certain classic world administrators, select-few others) I am interested in having an assistant to help manage projects provided the turnout for applicants creates necessary demand. This would greatly help ensure that work can be assigned, completed, and managed in a timely fashion and would greatly relieve some pressure as I have extensive real life obligations and cannot simply be on "all the time." Notes: As most of our Level and GFX work is already completed, I can't stress enough that I am looking to hire NATs and Gani artists almost-exclusively. What is DelteriaDelteria continues to be a world where quality sparring, PK'ing, and events is to be expected. As we move toward an initial re-release, the goal is to maximize community immersion by way of assuring diverse gameplay and customization options for the players. We hope to achieve this by offering a hybridized combat system, allowing for classic activity to take precedence on the majority of the overworld while questing becomes more of an exciting, action-rpg adventure that will make forming parties a necessary function. This sort of atmosphere fosters activity for all player-types and ultimately will provide a way to unify those types and leave many functional aspects of the server to be decided by the players themselves. For clarification: The world will use classic swords everywhere EXCEPT quests and specific events initially, though we may try enabling our quest weapons everywhere except for the Port Town. We also plan on having extensive, customizable guild support concerning events and guild property. I feel it would do a strong disservice to the community if we were all unable to play some of these fun things together. Contacts: AIM: Cloven DC Email: [email protected] Graal: My client can usually be found on Unholy Nation. I am typically on most days in the early afternoon, and most nights between 10PM-3AM (EST). Alternatively you may post a partial application in this thread. Include what department you are applying for, along with some history about yourself. Please note that this thread will be heavily moderated; this is a serious issue and I am not "jerking around." |
It's been a while in the making, but worth every second of it. I really hope more people jump onboard to get it done a little faster.

I really like the Faerie Town screenshot, nice looking tileset.
|
Wish I had any time to spare, i barely logon client as it is...
It's a damn shame that noone is willing to help out one of the servers that helped define the game, not only that but looks visually orgasmic Stop making your inevitable to fail UC servers and help out Delteria, people. |
Damn that looks really nice, and I mean REALLY NICE. I love the tilesets, baddies, weapons, everything. A step above everything else I've seen on graal.
|
god damnit all those tiles gone to waste, you really need a better outside LAT and its a shame i dont even open the level editor anymore. FML
|
The screenshots are rad.
|
Chat bubbles look stupid, some of the levels are weird, but almost all of the tiles are god awesome. Nice work and good luck finding people.
|
Wow, rep +.
I hope you will find the peoples you're looking for. |
The graphics are really sweet!
|
I offered the other day to help with the levels, and you told me there is no point, since Delteria is dead.
|
I agree about chat bubbles. They're totally unnecessary on 2D games, and especially Graal. All they do is waste resources and clutter the screen.

Thank you for the compliment in any regard. Quote:

Again I would REALLY appreciate any scripting assistance that can be provided from people on Chris and Dusty's level. Any help at all is better than none. |
Looks amazing Cloven, I hope you find the help. This could easily be the best playerworld :D
|
Hope you get the help you need, Cloven.

I actually like the chat bubbles, it's a new and interesting idea, and if done right could remove unwanted clutter from the screen (text onscreen limitations so you don't have people 'Q'ing the entire screen, being able to bring certain text to front if you clicked on the player, etc would be great features).
I don't really like the Zombie Outbreak event screenshots (too much orange blood?), nor the ET lobby (terrible color combination). I like pretty much everything else though you should really look into getting someone new for your grass tiling. I LOVE the Pig Man boss, and the idea of Faerie town, very Zelda-ish! I honestly hope you get volunteers, if it wasn't gold required I'd do some LAT work for you. |

But enough justifying, I honestly doubt they even considered this as an idea. |

However, I think a chat log would better maintain chat in any circumstance. |
There are other benefits as well, like text wrapping, custom emoticons, etc.
Why would you want to enter a level with 20 people chatting with default anyways? How could you understand a word that was being said? |

Already mentioned, I'd much prefer logs for chat either way. |
Awesome graphics. I hope you get the project going and I suggest you to release at least a decent part of the server to attract people, this can get developers more motivated :P
Global News Team @ your service =D |

@ Nataxo: I think it'll be moving along here soon barring anything weird happening. I've received a good amount of feedback and interest from this thread so far. And uh, a preview may be possible shortly before an actual release. Last time (2007) an idiot released the Port Town with nothing in it and Delt went from 200 players to a death spiral in five days, heh. Not interested in repeating that, and everyone deserves better. |
Quote:
I never understood why someone released that :\ Although it was more like 15 players. |
The screenshots look pretty kidsy, but otherwise the server looks really nice.
|
Gorgeous graphics Cloven. Those tiles are the kind of things LAT's have wet dreams about. Who designed?

if it wasn't for the core scripts being needed, delteria could easily be released with a bit of reorganization: a type of story-telling would be needed to let player's know why the world of delteria has ended up the way it is, but it's got more than enough content to release, minus the scripts
i thought that delteria did have some hardcore supporting scripters working on it though, such as riot and nullify and some others. have they been unable to dedicate much time to it, or have they quit? since it's going to stay a classic-themed server, it doesn't seem likely that a large amount of scripting is needed: it would seem more like things need to be pulled together to create harmony. then again, i just don't know delteria's situation well enough to really make comments like that... |
Quote:
Pt-1) All I'm willing to say at the moment is that new players will start off as a stowaway in a sailing vessel docked outside of the Port Town (there is a short animation for this that's both clever and humorous). Pt-2) The scripting situation has just been bad, that's really the gist, heh. |

two thumbs up for Delteria

I miss Delteria, it was my home for a while after Enigma went down before I left for Babylon. I wish you guys the best of luck. It would be a damn shame if that content wasn't used. |
I think the most impressive thing in those screenshots is the diagonal wall tiles (that's a compliment for sure!)
I just don't like how you don't use southeast and southwest versions of them (more of an rpg random dungeon crawler theme rather than a zelda theme) because it doesn't allow for the type of level and dungeon designs that I go for in my work, and I would consider the ALTTP perspective to be far more advanced and open to different designs in reality. |
