Roll should use up 'energy'. I think it's a great new addition, but needs to be controlled so it's not overused. The amount of energy it uses needs to cater for those who use energy based weapons though... So it might be difficult to add.

At this point it is my consideration that I am entirely against linking energy consumption to rolling. I think the more appropriate tweak, if we find one is actually necessary, is extending the cool-down period between rolls.

I agree with you on this point, for as long as i've played zone, energy was used as, well, energy, but for weapons, and tools, such as jetpack and energy weapons, it wouldn't make sense to use it as physical energy aswell, then again, this is zone, but w/e.

Easy solution- make 2 separate energy pools, one for actions another for gun energy.

I don't like it, and it would be a lot of work for such a minor thing, if roll is being used to often we will simply add a longer cool-down to it.

With another energy pool you could create a new map with new game play.
You could allow the separate energy pool to allow people to hop over fences, chunks of snow and etc. Many other possibilities as well.

It is more effective than using a jetpack to clear obstacles. However certain obstacles aren't meant to be just hopped over.

That's what i see as a problem, the script would have to see with the snow :image,
and the cliffs :tileset, cuz you shouldn't be able to jump over the big cliffs of the tileset, then the jetpack would become completely obsolete.

Visual effects which resembles dizziness that increases in intensity after each roll performed rapidly in succession could be cool. The more you do it, the longer it takes for the dizziness to wear off.
