Even though it sounds like you already did in the past, try changing the compatibility. Right click the icon >properties > compatibility.

I run mine with compatibility set to "Windows Vista", and depending on where you have your Graal folder located (If it's in the Program Files section) "Run as Administrator" so it can write files to the system folder.

I don't have the windows vista option? How could I obtain this.

If you're already running Windows Vista, XP, or a non-Windows operating system, you won't have the option to run in compatibility mode with Windows Vista. You must be running Windows 7, just as the thread starter is, and make this selection:

Attachment 49969

The option to run as Administrator is not necessary unless (as I mentioned) your Graal folder is located in one of the system folders. Such folders would be Program Files, Windows (Though, you shouldn't save any personal files in this folder anyway!), etc and I think also "Saved Games" which is where mine is and I found it being turned off didn't write a lot of files such as EXEs if you're downloading the Level Editor, GraalShop, etc packages.

Directed toward you specifically though Unkownsoldier, if you're having trouble with some features on Graal, for both Windows Vista and 7, check this thread:

it isnt working. but you are talking about the graal folder. it is the setup that freezes not the client. so when i try to install it, it reboots my comp automatically before a graal folder can even be created :( nothin is working!

I have troubles with the installer on 7 too but it actually spits out the Graal client so here ya go. See attached for client.

Instructions:

1. Create a Graal folder
2. Extract the Client to the Graal folder
3. Run Graal
4. Install Graphics, Sound, and other packages at Login / Server Select.

Graal will create the necessary folders when you start it up.

Edit: or just rename the GraalSetup.exe like Riot said.

Riot 12-05-2009 04:19 AM

I'm pretty sure you can just rename GraalSetup.exe to Graal.exe and run it without "installing" it.

Loriel 12-05-2009 04:38 AM

look at this point maybe you should invest into a new computer

Geno 12-05-2009 07:09 AM

you are right. my new netbook with 7 is obsolete because it does not run graal. shucks!

i give up.
