Server OPs 'staff=' disappeared.

Staff on N-Pulse woke up to find out that the entire 'staff=' line in server options is no longer visible, but all staff with RCs, can still log on. Any ideas?

Cool

can other peeps that isn't staff log on with rc? :o

No, thank god.

I'd guess someone removed the line, check RC logs?

The reason you can still log on, by the way, is because it still has the old staff= line saved. Probably a security feature.

EDIT: Try a script like this:

PHP Code:

echo(serveroptions.staff);

It should give you a list, then you can put it back in server options.

It was actually noticed last night by me and a few others, all of which were on the entire time, so no one had removed the line, we can tell you that for sure.

This did not work.

IIRC, when staff= is not set, anyone with an IP Range set can log on.

As long you don't overwrite it or restart the server the old staff= list is still active. The npcserver reads the options from the file, so it will not give you the thing in cache.

Perhaps they want the old list so they can restore it? ;)

I believe Matt did it manually via Staff records.

Probably quite possible. I'd hope any staff team (especially Classic servers) maintains an updated staff list, but I assumed by this thread that they were requesting a backup.

Imperialistic 10-25-2009 03:45 AM

It would've helped immensely I suppose.

DustyPorViva 10-25-2009 03:48 AM

Couldn't you make a script that backed up the serveroptions every other day or so?

Easily, we already have one that caches it on Era Dev (converting the strings to arrays and some other misc things).

I was requesting backup, but i was also wondering why this can just happen. Entire lines in server options disappearing can't be good, and there's no logs leading my to an accident or an intended action by another staff member.
