Connecting to Graal IRC with external client?
 

I think it'd be nice to set up a nice global IRC chat for Graal, but I thought it'd be better to be able to chat via Graal/RC or with an external client, rather than one or the other. As far as I know, connecting to an external IRC like freenode is out of the question with Graal, so I wonder is it possible to connect to a Graal IRC chatroom with an external client? If so, what would be the process? What address, do I use my Graal account/password?

This is not possible; the chat is now operated entirely by NPCs on the Serverlister server, so it is not using any recognised chat protocol and isn't externally accessible. In theory it would be possible to add a TSocket to the IRC stuff to accept socket connections and script it to use the IRC protocol, but I figure Stefan won't allow that.

Meh, that sucks. I'd really like to get a Graal IRC channel going that isn't limited to one or the other.

Would be neat if you could use the External RC as a strictly Graal IRC (which needs many improvements), but things like that will be become deprecated because of the dev tools becoming client-based.

Graal Irc in general would be fun :P Different channels for servers ect.

Graal already has IRC.
