I miss the O'l West!!!!!!!!!!!

I really wonder what happened to the best Playerworld server? I miss O'l West very much! Did it cost too much? Couldn't Tig keep it up :(?

Soala 10-11-2009 12:37 PM

Tig:

-PWA
-Graal Kingdoms Manager
-Administration team of Tesbed Server.

I guess adding Ol'West to it is too much work?

DuBsTeRmAn 10-11-2009 01:45 PM

I worked there for like a week.. Me and Mag or something were the only ones working there, He told me do design a gmap.. So i started working on that and a few days later he was gone and i never heard anything of him since that day..

Soala 10-11-2009 02:32 PM

Mag asked me a few stuffs too, but I never had time to finish any of them. I got his msn by the way, so he's still alive if any of you wonder.

Crono 10-11-2009 04:18 PM

I don't.

I think that server could of been really good if it got more attention then it did and had more developers but Tig interest seemed to be more with his other responsibilities and Ol' West was left for Mag to manage which is understandable but hopefully it will come back but the chances are it won't imo.

I don't see what Ol' West ever had to offer.

Link3D 10-11-2009 06:21 PM

it is still not good that we cant play anymore on it :(

I get asked almost daily what happened to Ol' West and asked to bring it back, obviously it had a small community, especially on its private forums.

I would like to continue the Ol' West project one day. If I ever get GK back on its feet I will probably resign and then start Ol' West back up, but I can't see that happening for a while.

Edit: Our biggest obstacle and reason for stopping the development of Ol' West was due to lack of development help. It's still a problem today with GK and almost every single server, but I have built a few contacts over time, I feel like I may actually be able to bring Ol' West back and complete it whenever I get the time.

Hatred89 10-11-2009 06:27 PM

It provided an unique theme other then other Era remakes. It could of stayed away from the constant modern theme. The guns were some what more unquie and not as fast shooting since there was no automatics. Plus the whole Indian vs Cowboy thing could of been done really nicely.

LordSquirt 10-11-2009 06:34 PM

I also liked the concept of Ol' West. I would like to see it up and completed, however, I know that's a hard thing to do and understand Tig is pressed for time.

Hatred89 10-11-2009 06:38 PM

Well, also Mag is no where to be found and he was the one running it for its last few years. I don't know how willing he would be to come back unless he had help because him and I would talk quite a bit and he would complain about not being able to find anyone to help him or not enough people at least. I tried to find him people to help but that was when I was trying to hire for three different servers so it was difficult =P. (AEON, GK, and Ol' West)

cbk1994 10-11-2009 07:12 PM

Ol' West was always interesting, but it never felt finished. I hope Tig gets the time to finish it one day, though it will probably be a while, if ever (he's in college, manager of GK, PWA, pays for/runs Testbed, global guilds admin, etc)

Hatred89 10-11-2009 07:19 PM

Yep even though he wants to I doubt that it will come back and if it does I can't see it being finished sadly. I mean it was on the hosted tab for a reason it wasn't finished and I heard some of the developmental ideas they had and it seemed pretty cool and new.

KrimsonSky 10-11-2009 07:20 PM

I miss Ol'West as well, me and my buds [Rogue, Mulias , Comet, and a few others] ran that server ;]. ez

zorinkelpekem 11-02-2009 01:56 PM

I didnt like Ol'West at all, it maybe was made very good but not much population at all

Darlene159 11-02-2009 03:25 PM

I really liked the server, and thought it had a lot of potential.

Do you think you'll ever bring GK back to any worthwhile glory? If not, perhaps you may be able to contribute more to Graal by going ahead and brining back Ol' West. Seems like there's a lot of support for it.

Unless I'm mistaken, Aeko does that, not Tig.

Last I heard, Aeko stopped paying, so Tig stepped up?

It was pretty fun while it lasted.

Ol' West would be a more interesting investment of development time than Graal Kingdoms imho.

Why? Ol'West was nothing more than a small undeveloped Era set in the cowboy days. They may have had some plans and whatnot but every server does nowadays. GK, as Graal's real official server, needs to be fixed and have it's playercount back on track.

One of the best things to do for GK would be to put it on the Classic list and stop making people buy gold to play it. I wouldn't be surprised if the player count jumped very high with that change.

You can already experience pretty much everything the server has to offer on a trial account without the hassle of observer mode.

No. Just no.

I recall when I had begun developing, I had asked mag for a job. After making an app, he was like "Ok I'll add your RC in a bit"

After he idled for 20 hours I went on the next day to ask if he was going to add it.

He replied by saying "Who are you?!"

I pmed him the history and was like O.o, he asked me to make another application.

I loved Ol' West so I preceeded to make a new one, this time after he saw it he summoned me to his test level, and added me on MSN. He went afk and after a hour I logged off. After pking for a few hours on Era he replied to my pm to pm me when he was back, I logged back on and he said "You need to make an app to work here"

I thought he was a total idiot and just stopped trying. About a Month ago, Me and a few friends were looking for something to do for a server (you know us as the team that brought you Spawn, and we had a full staff team ready) and I msged Mag on msn to come bring it back. He said somthing along the lines of :"No, but if you can remake the server I'll come back and manage it"

So yeah, never happening unless Tig should do it. Which is probably never going to happen either.

Luigi203 11-13-2009 03:39 AM

Rogue: I'm sorry you feel that way, but I don't remember exactly why I didn't hire you. It was probably because whatever you had to offer was sub par and I probably told you this. Then, some time ago you proposed some silly joint ownership between Tig and I, and you and your silly Spawn goons to revive the server and I told you no. I'm sorry to disappoint you again.

Say what you may want about me, or Tig, but not the server. Sure, Ol' West was as a Western Era as some of you call it. That was never it's purpose, as I pushed hard to get more content than what we had, but there was only so much I could do without support from a dedicated artist.

This was the only reason the server was as 'underdeveloped' as it was. It's kind of ironic that people are talking about how much potential it had now that it's gone, when noone wanted anything to do with it when it was around. Maybe if people had some insight, Ol' West could have been something by now. It's tough trying to develop a server with little or no actual help.

I didn't give up on it, and I'd be more than willing to spend the money to have it back online if I have the DEDICATED help. Until that day, it's a waste of money.

BigBear3 11-17-2009 06:48 PM

Ol' West for life!

Yeah I admit I was horrible @ levels back then.

Now I could be self-described as "Godly". And I also dabble in gfx/nat now, still learning :P

If it were to return, I assure you I'd be the first to apply.
