Hello from Noctorious, I'm going to get straight to the point.

We need Developers!
We are currently Hiring all developers especially Scripters. As most of you know Noctorioius has been a very controversal server. Many people think it is a copy of Era. But how do we really make a modern server that presents new ideas, but is still pleasing to the graal community? That is the question I am currently debating.

A little bit about Noctorious:

An almost complete modern server that features alot of what you usually see with modern servers such as, Jobs, Guns, Events, Cars, Guilds, Etc. We feature an array of new jobs and quests. Also a defining characteristic is that we are developing into a more player ran server. Players make their own ammo, stock it, ship it, then players sell it at the many player owned shops. The process is very lengthy. But this will give players more freedom to control the environment they play in. Players can own houses, land plots, and much much more. Specifications to be hired.

LAT- Must know how to upload levels onto the server. Be able to use the same style of LATing featured in the rest of the server.

GFX- Must create GFXs that go with the rest in the server, must be transed fully and well-made.

Scripters- Must be able to script a basic movement system, and a basic gun system. If you can do these things than you can most likely do many others.

Sounds- be able to accurately depict a sound as if it were being used in real life.

Ok, well we can continue to wait while Era gets its crap together, because we all know that its the only modern server thats worth playing at this moment. To be honest I dont think it'll be moving anywhere anytime soon. Now some think otherwise with Graal Ghetto but that place just takes the noobs off of era. Ok so ive talked to a few people, and we are leaning towards the descision to take a COD (call of duty) approch to Noctorious. There will be many different rooms that would function like events in which players could join. No businesses or anything like that. Just a chat level that you come up in when you log onto Noct and a GUI that can be clicked on that displays different rooms and types of events. This is just an idea as of now, it all depends on the people that are willing to help me.

Doesn't sound bad:

"OK SO LET'S DESTROY ALL THE NOCTORIOUS CONTENT AND MAKE A CALL OF DUTY COPY!! OH AND WHEN WE'RE HALFWAY DONE LET'S REPLACE THE MANAGER AND START NEW!!! YAHOOOO"

it will not be just a Call of Duty copy, COD is just the closest idea i can compare the new idea with. Basically there will be different rooms in which players can play in. Think of it as like your choice of event at any given time. And people who also like that event will join and play it with you.

The idea is very good, but it's simply not Noctorious. Do you really want to throw away everything Noctorious has right now and start over? How dumb is that?

Well I dont plan on throwing everything away, my finger isnt even near the delete button. I will possibly use parts of the existing Gmap to make some of these Rooms, as well as new levels. As for the GFXing and scripts, they all stay. Same tileset GFX everything. Just presented in a new way.;)

I was going to leave a very nasty comment when I read this yesterday but I figured, "To hell with it." You pretty much summed it up, though.

What is noctorious but an era-utopia-graal ghetto-atrius-big city-clone.

I don't see how it's dumb to not want to take what Noctorious has and present it in a new, rather original (to graal) light.

To my imagination, theres not much more to be done on those types of servers.

Bad idea indeed, it would be better to start on a new server with a new name instead.

It's all about making a server LIKE Era that makes people call Era the clone ;)

It doesnt matter whether Noctorious was before Big City and GG, or for that matter any modern server today. They finished and got their stuff out before we did. They win. Now whatever comes out after that (that is similar to a modern server like Era) will be classified into the Era clone category. This is what happened to us. So heres the choices, 1. Go sword. 2. Change the Gameplay. I dont know about everyone else but I dont want to turn into a sword server. To be honest also, I think doing this COD-type server would be a good idea. Why? because it changes the gameplay of the server so that players can entertain themselves. Without staff having to be on every minute of the day to Host and do events. Now doing an RPG game is a nice idea too. But the problem I have with RPGs is that if you look at these places like Valikorlia, Etc. They dont have too many players. I think the general population that plays the modern servers arnt going to want to have to go through these complicated GUIs to be in a class of some sort, then go through more GUIs to fight and such. What we have to realize is that many modern players like to keep it simple, Grab a gun and shoot the other player. Even I myself do not want to deal with 10 GUIs to just shoot a gun. Simplicity is the key to getting the attention of (most) modern players. I know this because Ive played Era for 3 years now and im familiar with how everyone thinks on there.

We'll talk after 2 weeks when nothing has changed, since nothing is getting done. ;)

It's funny how Noctorious was accused of being an era-utopia-graal ghetto-atrius-big city-clone and granted, there isn't much of a difference. Noctorious was never completed and thus what people saw was just what would have been the base of the server, a point from which it could move on. Now, Old_Days suggests an idea which is basically running away from what the modern stereotype is or, atleast from what era is. Some reject these ideas. So at the end, people don't want an era clone, but they don't want Noctorious to move away from what it's base point was. I don't see what path would lead Noc to getting someplace other than the server graveyard. So what do you guys think should be made of Noctorious? (btw, I currently stand on neutral land, I don't really like or dislike any of the many ideas that the staff has already discussed.)

Not guns/special guns for the better/first/friend-of-staff players.
