Graalshop problem

Yeah, I've ganied some for about a year now. Since i changed my GFX card from an ATI Raedon (not sure of the number) to a Nvidia GeForce 8400 i believe the graalshop program is now pretty damn choppy and slow in every way as in of loading files to dragging sprites out.

If someone can PLEASE help me out that would be great.

Please feel free to give any suggestions.

I have a similar graphics card with no problems. Can you post your computer specs (OS (64-bit?), CPU, RAM, etc)

Fulg0reSama 10-11-2009 09:50 AM

I can try.

It's a 32 bit Windows XP(It was a the original XP from 2000) Service Pack 3 Dell made in about 2003 i think, CPU i am not sure. My Ram is about 1 gig of ram. Anything else? I cant remember how to check CPU. is it through dxdiag?

Hmm, you could try running GraalShop in compatibility mode with Windows 98 and see if that helps; to do that, just right click GraalShop.exe and go to Properties. After that, go to the Compatibility tab. Rest is self explanatory from there.

Fulg0reSama 10-12-2009 06:55 AM

Didn't work Tig. Any other ideas? Infact when i tried that (and every other option) it made it slightly worse.

Did you uninstall your old video card drivers before you installed the new ones?

Best course of action would be uninstalling all video card drivers, then installing the latest ones from the Nvidia site.

Fulg0reSama 10-12-2009 07:07 AM

Already did that.

I'm assuming you tried a simple Uninstall/Re-Install of GraalShop via the Login start menu?

Pelikano 10-15-2009 01:47 PM

Nvidia ftw!!

Fulg0reSama 10-15-2009 03:57 PM

I tried that on 3 seperate reformats Matt. Thanks but it never worked in like 100 tries.

and Nvidia FTL in this situation. Im believing its a matter of my GFX card being slightly bad or something because it has failed on its drivers before n **** after a while and i got a feeling that the damage has been done there.

prozacboy666 10-16-2009 06:43 PM

When you install a new graphics card you're suppose to go into safe mode and uninstall those graphics drivers BEFORE you put you're new graphics card in the slot. Then reboot normally and it should auto-install standard graphics drivers till you download the new ones. I think the problem could be a memory problem and not necessarily a graphics problem..

Fulg0reSama 01-09-2010 05:23 PM

Well I dont believe so or I would be dealing with bigger problems wouldn't I?

I have 4 GB of RAM memory, and GraalShop is extremely laggy ever since I got Vista - not any better now that I'm using 7.

Fulg0reSama 01-09-2010 07:09 PM

Anymore ideas people?

I am not sure it could be a computer issue... Between nvidia drivers and the computer itself...

It seems to happen randomly on computers.
My old computer that I do not use that often does not have the official nvidia drivers on it because all the new drivers after a certain revision would actually cause my computer to crash... Unfortunately the omega drivers website no longer updates so its no use to change anything. My old computer ran graal at full speed until v5 then it slowed down but I fixed that by adding in more ram. It only has 896 megs of ram however and it runs v5 with minimal slowdowns even with the fact that its barely holding together and will soon just probably burst into flame.

ok I just went on and on again...

what I usuallydo if the normal nvidia drivers are not working (causing lag/crashing and other such glitches when the last version I used worked fine) was look for other drivers or go back to the last working drivers.
Its could be a bad card or it might not (I have had my old nvidia card on my old pc actually burn up on the 1st day and had to return it)... also you could try to get a drivercleaner program to remove all the old drivers first... (nvidia driver cleaner on google seems to find some)

- removed site address... - theres free driver cleaners out their...

I would be open to this idea if it wasnt for the fact I had recently reformatted (Idiot brother tried to upgrade my service packages for windows from a non windows website Durr) anyways, I shouldn't have any old drivers to be slowing me down

I figured out the reason for my problem after so long.

The issue for this has to do with the color support. I ran the program in 256 colors, when everything else got ugly on my screen, The program ran smoothly. Is it possible for a better color support update..?

The only thing that perplexes me is If that is why It's happening now then why does it work fine on most and for some others it runs like horse**** ?

I admit I laughed at myself too.
But still... The program is four years out of date if not MORE.

I also want to refer to the thread I made about updating the client itself.
http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...79#post1623679

Edit: I only ask because I shouldn't have to lower my color bit-rate from 32 to 16 to run this thing.

We have 64 bit PCs out there.

opensource on external tools that doesn't have to do anything w/ how graal renders the character or connect to a server, should be ok to have opensource on...

this...?
