c++ and Graal

I've always said Graal should have been programmed with C++. C++ is indeed the better programming language overall. It owns delphi and every other programming language to this day. I've done my research and those were my conclusions. Don't argue with me. :o

This coming from a guy with absolutely no experience with Delphi.. why make it in c++? Just so it takes longer to make and you can say "graal was made in c++"

It's just fine in Delphi..

>>points at yet another idiot that feels c++ is the only language anyone should learn because "IT R BEST LANGUIGE TO LERN AND I WIL GET A GUD JOB AT A COMPANEE!"<<

Okay, in what way is C++ better, aside from the small speed difference (which barely matters for a 2D game)?

Shaun: I'm in a C++ class right now, it's going to be what my game is made in, since the only help anybody is offering is being beta testers... ARGH.. This will be something I'll have to do myself I guess...

Ok C++ is more for data storing Yes it is faster but, will require much more work and coding.

Anytime somebody gives out a blatant opinon only for the vindication of giving a blatant opinion all I can do is roll my eyes.

uh oh... here it comes!

TIME FOR THE BLATANT OPINION!!!!

I think the United States should switch over to the metric system, its better in every way.

Graal IS using faster code where the speed counts:
the game server and npcserver use C++,
the compression, gif and mng encoding are in assembler

Boss has Spoken

eep, assembler!
*bows before the master*
Now that's dedication, children! When Stefan codes compression algorythms in the language that is so raw DOS is programmed in it, in a field where debuggers view it in hex and the data types are sorted by bit length...
I'm taking the class now. I've just about figured out how to make it save!
No, not the programs, the editor! D'OH!

haha lolol oh god that is funny

ROFL watch konidias now pick c++ and assembler as his favorites over delphi just because you use them. he said nothing about delphi before you mentioned it so its obvious hes a follower. I'm waiting.

entravial 09-08-2001 02:36 PM

according to notepad Graal is programmed in a whole lot of squares and funny looking symbols

joseyisleet 09-08-2001 04:21 PM

god what idiots..

C++ is far from the best, Yes it's better than delphi in some aspects, in others it isn't (tcp/ip connections are much easier and faster in delphi). By far the best programming language I've used in my 8 years of programming has been C#(C sharp). Which most wanna be programmers havent heard of because they're idiotic and want to stay with Visual Basic's. If you want to use a complicated yet fast and effecient programming language use C#. It has c++, visual basics, java, and some different language that i havent used, wrapped into one big expensive cd-rom installation.
In my personal opinion the next time Stefan updates Graal he should redo it in C#. =P

True. That would be like asking someone to code a whole new game...

Hmm where can I learn about c#? And IMO delphi is way too much like VB, which I hate. That's just what I think. C++ is much more powerful. I'd like to see you program an OS in Delphi cause I know its been done in C++.
