The world is ready.....

I think with so many areas, and so much lag, Graal2001 is ready to have a lizard shield.

Admins 08-22-2001 07:58 PM

lag?

*Sarcastic* lag?? what lag? *Sarcastic*

Kaimetsu 08-22-2001 08:18 PM

Regardless of whether or not the lag actually exists, why would it necessitate a lizard shield?

Have you ever noticed how BIG the map is..?

AlkarenHyralt 08-22-2001 08:24 PM

Why put in the level 3 shield? As far as I know, the mirror shield isn't in Graal 2001, and why would you skip a shield level?

ArchOwl 08-22-2001 08:59 PM

put in a shield that blocks fireballs 100% :D

freddyfox 08-22-2001 09:00 PM

What LAG!?

It's GREAT! It's the only server I can use "Don't use UDP for update packages" and still have everyone move around normally!

starkid99 08-22-2001 09:09 PM

I dont know whta lag is, Im on a 1100Mhz comp with cable modem

Cloud_X 08-22-2001 09:19 PM

Soon (around sept 18) Ill be on a p4 so =]-

TrueHeaT 08-22-2001 09:33 PM

er i don't notice any lag
i don't really like the "upgrades" like lizard shield
i had an idea for making mining and crafting jewely that had special powers and can change your sword power, health, speed etc when being worn dsjaf dsfds i'm not making much sense it's 7 am and i haven't slept

Rainstorm 08-23-2001 05:10 AM

I think a lizard shield on g2k1 would be nice

Athlons are faster and cheaper than P4s.

FatherDante 08-23-2001 05:27 AM

The mirror shield is actually worse than the level 1 shield because it doesn't work. This is something I discovered but never told anybody. Because the mirror shield was bugged, it would sometimes fail to properly deflect arrows and they would hurt you, while the lvl 1 shield would not. Meanwhile, it's trademark ability to reflect arrows was worthless.
Of course, that may be fixed in 2000?

Hey i am cool 08-23-2001 05:53 AM

graal2001 i lagging. ;\

James205 08-23-2001 07:34 AM

The lag is very bad for me, my bitrate willk go down to 0 in just about 5 minutes after I sign on graal, then I get no connection and I go very slow and the sound screws up and I get disconnected. I don't just get disconnected from graal, seems graal disconnects my connection so I have to dial up again.

Ahriman 08-23-2001 07:37 AM

yeah, i lag too. But i think its mainly due to the fact there are so many damn NPCs. I mean, whenever the NPC server goes down, it is TOTALLY lag free, but as SOON as it goes back up again i can hardly walk on the main street in bombardia. Maybe if Stefan just deleted some of the useless NPCs that have no purpose the lag would decrease.

evilive 08-23-2001 07:46 AM

Interesting how people say lag....

1. Lag is generated by how much time your computer get information. Therefore, if you have less things running while playing, lag would be devestatingly low.
2. Connections don't really have anything to do with lag. The only lag they create is level loading (Fetching new levels from server)
For example, at home I use a cable connection and it works fine with hardly any lag at all. And when I'm on vacation like I am now, I am forced to use a 56k connection, and there still is no lag.

No, my computers are not brand new. And no, they don't have spiffy drivers in them. It depends on how much you're running at the same time as playing. (Stefan prolly only has one thing open at a time when doing stuff)

Admins 08-23-2001 09:06 AM

Well the dustari battle was laggy, but i guess
that that is normal when >50 players are on a
1x1m spot
When the npcs slow you down: may be its
just the daynight thing and disabling directx7 in
the graal options will solve that
The mirror shield reflects the mirror when you stand
still. If you move towards the arrow then
the arrow might go through it, since it misses
the shield.

Actually, you're only partially correct there Gonmon.

Lag is caused by slow data transfer rates. Graal doesn't usually require too fast of a connection unless there's a lot of players or server NPCs in a level.

Now, machine slowdown is what causes the actual game to slow down when it can't process the information smoothly and quickly.

Jumpiness == lag
Slowness == computer

also, if a bunch of connections at different speeds and ports and stuff, screws lotsa stuff up

cheaterzx22 08-23-2001 09:28 AM

Graal runs just fine offline but when i go online its sssslllloooowww. Unless the npcserver is down. then it's just like bein offline.

Rainstorm 08-23-2001 09:32 AM

I always thought my 56k connection was my lag problem.

oggi 08-23-2001 10:09 AM

My bitrate is always over 100.. im on dsl *does a happy dance*

Keyan 08-23-2001 10:41 AM

My bitrate is always over 100 (unless its 0 when i'm not moving) and I'm on a 56k *sits down since he cant dance*

homeless1 08-23-2001 10:54 AM
