No, seriously?!

Warning: This is a rant.

I've just received reputation because someone wants to keep taking away reputation from someone else...

Seriously, I don't want, nor should anyone else be given reputation without actually earning it.

Likewise, people should not have reputation taken away because someone does not like them.

Why is the reputation system even there? It obviously hasn't been used correctly in years... does anyone else feel there is no point to it?

I don't care that I've been given good reputation, honestly I'd rather mine go back red since I don't even know how it randomly became green. The fact of the matter is it wasn't given for the right reasons.

Are there no morals in this forum?!

To further prove my point,
http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...1&d=1336622677

Positive reputation given for no reason.
One Positive = +1 point.
Did not earn it.
Reputation = 16

Negative reputation given to fix the positive.
One Negative = -6 points.
Did not earn it.
Reputation = 10

*Note: Thor didn't mind his name being shown.

Positive reputation given for I don't know.
One Positive = +5 points.
I still have not done anything to deserve it..
Now I'm just being trolled?
Reputation = 15

Reputation not given.
Probably the best I've received.
Reputation = 15

Negative reputation given for disapproving of something.
One Negative = -9 points.
Possibly deserved it? No reason stated.
Reputation = 6

http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...1&d=1336650731

Negative reputation given for crying.
One Negative = -1 points.
Showing emotion? Not so sure I deserved it.
Reputation = 5

http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...1&d=1336666774

Positive reputation for advertisment.
One Positive = +15 points.
Didn't deserve it.
Reputation = 20

Negator reputation for this dude too.
One Negativity = -One bar!
Didn't deserve it.
Reputation = Something
Apparently, somehow, I'm at fault.
I'm a bad boy. :[

Reputation system is no useful.

http://forgifs.com/gallery/d/127014-...ousfacedog.jpg
Or maybe I don't know what is or is not deserving.
I am not helping anyone on this thread. - Don't deserve pos rep.
I am not hurting anyone on this thread. - Don't deserve neg rep.

The only think I can think of is the word 'reputation' being held literally
which states "the beliefs or opinions that are generally held about someone or something".

Which in any case those who like or dislike someone should then
like or dislike someone over and over until their feelings change...

If that is how the system is going to be..
Then I guess all is fine.. My thread is invalid.
x.X

Possible Solution:
Let others see the comments of why
they were given the reputation.

That way if they don't see anything honest,
it won't be taken into account by their opinion.

I feel the reputation system is not useful.

There are no morals on Graal, silly.

However, I personally feel it helps others decide "who they should listen to", if that makes any sense. For example, you wouldn't want to pay much attention to someone with negative reputation because of false/misleading information.

Then again, a bunch of reputation that's given these days is because of entertaining posts, so it can be misleading...

Because I found a cool website for memes and other pics I will be using this in every post on this thread. >_<

But, honestly, I wouldn't pay much attention to someone who has a bad attitude or tone to their post and isn't trying to help.

I've never had the reputation colors enlighten me, since I've had people in the red help me more than people in the green. They are usually hated for trying to help but hated against for doing so.

Gunderak, in that thread, was trying to give the community something he thought they would find interesting.. He was shunned for it.

who cares

Loakey_P2P 05-10-2012 07:32 AM

no, there are no morals here . but everything said thus far is true . it should be used to identify who to listen to except people abuse the heck out of it, or are just to stupid to use it properly . so there's no point even bothering . i pay no attention what so ever to it cause of this . It was suppose to work that way Dragon but then again you can't trust that the neg rep is well earned cause it may be useful to this one person but not to those two . so the one pos reps you and the other two neg rep . including each person into the equation leads to fail . the whole rep system is a bad idea and there is no real alternative that's 100% fool proof . I've seen a thank option added to the bottom of post's that works well without throwing off the whole rep system . but it wont do any good , people will be d*@%'s anyways .

fowlplay4 05-10-2012 07:33 AM

it is definitely useful, i celebrate every time i get rep.

ffcmike 05-10-2012 07:38 AM

So you got a +1, then a -6, then a +5 for doing the square root of sod all. The world is in harmony.

So it is... so it is...
Everyone should create threads like this!
However, the theory, it died.
