Ability to Edit Threads / Posts after 24 Hours

Would be very useful. Why not?

To stop people going back to old posts, editing them to include unsuitable content and it going unnoticed by moderators maybe even permanently.

You should at least allow thread starters in forums like the Code Gallery to edit the first post of the thread at all times.

It's a global setting.

I believe it has been said that if someone can find a mod that can do something like this, it would be installed. Or something along those lines.

^ This exactly. Thread starters should only have the ability to delete or change their post. Perhaps changes after a certain timeframe should be moderator approved so the above problem mentioned isn't happening with threads many years old and such, but yeah... definitely not thread-wide moderator rights that include posts not of their own creation though. All this would only be possible with modifications though, as mentioned.

Deleting threads shouldn't be possible after somebody has replied to it. It's irritating that the forum moderators act like the OP owns the thread; they routinely close threads at their request when the threads shouldn't really be closed.

Well, forum moderators for already do that...

Although I agree it is annoying that you can't change threads you created, like TSAdmin clearly explained, there are reasons for not allowing thread owners to edit posts. I do like the idea of being able to change the first post if you post in the code gallery or a sub forum of the development forums. You wouldn't have to keep posting separate threads for updates then. For now anyway, it can't be done and we haven't had a lot of issues or complaints in the past about this, so we will have to make do with what we have until an alternative is found.
