Extremely Unhappy

I've purchased a Dev Gold subscription which gives me a server for 6 months.
Initially I was happy, I thought I had gold for 6 months and also a server.
I've recently discovered that Developer Gold doesn't even include gold and I'm unable to log into RC on other servers and am still really a trial.
What the hell.
So I go and fork out $70 and I don't even get gold with my "Developer Gold".
Well great. Thanks Stefan.
Buying a server is misleading, all it gives you is a server, when it's clearly called "Deeloper Gold".

It's to stop you from getting distracted while developing your own server, you have your own server no need to log into other servers to develop for them!

While Ivalue your answer, I think if players are mature enough to buy a server they should be allowed to log on wherever.
Silly misleading Dev Gold.

If you actually read what they advertise:

"Rent a server and build your own online game with Developer Gold!"
"Developer Gold for 6 Months (Server Renting)"
"Developer Gold for 12 Months (Server Renting)"

No where does it say it gives you access to other servers.

However I do think there is some merit to Developer Gold also granting you Gold subscription status.

it should come with a deeveloper account that you can use for your server... i thought at least

Not that Gold is reasonably priced, but I'm surprised there isn't an alternate package which combines Gold and Server Rental at a lower overall cost. That way someone buying a subscription could think "for paying a bit extra I could toy around with a server", and someone buying a server could think "for paying a bit extra I can not be treated like a prisoner of war on other servers".

Developer Gold is pretty clear. Its just a server renting. I dont know why you expected to have Gold at all. You have access to your own Server. Should stop blaming the management for your own fault.

I could rant and rave about the problem with you for hours on end but i'm not going to.
What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word "Developer Gold". Because when I saw that I thought it included gold.
It does to some extent but only for your own server.

Honestly, the first thing I thought was that Developer gold is a separate entity from regular gold. Hence why it is designated as 'developer' gold and sold separately.

I don't find anything misleading about it.

papajchris 12-15-2012 02:57 AM

I would assume developer gold allows you to have gold on any server. All servers have developers. If it said "Personal Server Gold," that'd be different.

Starfire2001 12-15-2012 03:08 AM

Not that I'd ever buy it, but I was always under the impression Dev Gold gave you gold for every server. Probably could be made clearer.

Crono 12-15-2012 03:10 AM

kind of assumed developer gold would give you a special level of gold.

Anybody can buy anything they want, doesn't mean they're mature enough to use it in any way at all. Just means they know how to spend money.

My two cents being that as it's sold separately, which is one of the first things you'd notice after their titles, it's easy enough to assume that it would mean you get gold AND a server of your own for X months when in fact that's not the case. That said, no matter the name, shape, size or advertising of a product whether physical, digital or intellectual, it is up to the payer to read and understand the information provided about each package and notice that where "Gold Subscription" states that you can do one set of things and "Developer Gold" states you can do another set but does not include anything from other packages, it's safe to know it is not likely to include the benefits of another package.

That stopped years ago.

Yah I pretty much figured that by reading the forums a bit and putting 2 and 2 together.. that's why it's "Dev-Account" instead of Playerworld ##..

I've never purchased a server before so I didn't realize it changed.
