Can someone get me in the loop on why Classic was wiped completely (AGAIN)?

You could have just looked at the last few pages of threads, nearly every single one of them explain it in some way. Here is a summary though:

People continued to complain about Master Storm, Thor was added as an additional manager of the server. DC was hired as Development Administrator. [Link]
DC added some short-term content in addition to what we had, mainly based on suggestions that were made on the forums. [Link]
DC resigned from his position. [Link]
The server was placed into Under Construction through lack of morale and no change in Management. The management (or well, Thor) decided to start again. [Link]
Master Storm resigns from his Management position. [Link]

Good summary. Just a note: the server was put into Under Construction as an ultimatum to force a decision to be made. The decision to wipe was not Thor's only; Storm agreed as well. Bell also could have vetoed and did not.

Storm always agreed to everything that the 'other person in charge' of the server did, no matter how ludicrous it was, so I really can't imagine it being any different in this case.

That's not entirely true. Storm was the main arbiter in the decision to go with custom systems.

No point in arguing about it now though, because Storm is no longer a manager, and the staff team is actively developing the server.
