Can't start graal; virus

1 Attachment(s)
I was playing a few hours ago perfectly fine. I tried to start up graal and I get this. I've tried re-installing as well.

Bell 09-11-2009 09:32 PM

How about just doing a system restore?

xXziroXx 09-11-2009 09:48 PM

I like how Facebook is in the background, you have no idea how many viruses and trojans that are floating around in that place. :)

Bell 09-11-2009 09:48 PM

Cancel that suggestion. I just got the exact same thing with the exact same error

BlueMelon 09-11-2009 10:10 PM

Same Same Same Same same!!

Bell 09-11-2009 10:38 PM

I tried just restoring the files but McAfee pitched a fit and told me to stop telling it what to do and removed them again.

If you want an instant one, I would try removing McAfee :p

pig132 09-11-2009 11:33 PM

McAfee has been great since I got this computer (and it was free). Hasn't done anything like this before

Reinstalling graal fixes it until you close it, then this will come back

Bell 09-12-2009 12:03 AM

I haven't found a permanent fix. I've left a message for Stefan. Maybe he can figure out why its suddenly attacking Graal.

EclipsedAngel 09-12-2009 12:42 AM

Wtf this is happening to me too.

Skyld 09-12-2009 01:06 AM

It's possible that these antivirus products are using some kind of active defense grid whereby if a computer suspects it's found a virus, it automatically submits it to alert other computers of the potential risk. I'd be willing to bet that someone's computer somewhere has picked up code similar to something like cheatwindows maybe and has submitted it not realising the effect it's having on other software.

Dragon551 09-12-2009 02:53 AM

The only solution I've found so far is Disabling Virus Protection for a short time.

Computer and Files > Configure > 'Virus Protection is Enabled' Check that off.
Then you can open Graal with no problem, But then click On again while your Graal is open To prevent a real virus from getting in your computer.

Hope this helps :p

You shouldn't have to do this because Graal isn't a threat to your computer and won't give you any virus.

Most of the "Free" stuff does end up with problems like false positives just because of 1 person submitting that such-and-such a program will ALWAYS carry a virus. I think there was an incident where AVG did the same thing for Graal programs.

I'm not promoting solely-subscription based Internet Security programs, but they really are better in most cases.

I really must agree with Crow here. I assure you though, there are 0 virus' carried with the GraalOnline products-

It came with my computer when I bought it, 18 months free or something, I didn't download it

Bell 09-12-2009 04:55 AM

McAfee is a subscription service. Usually Norton or McAfee come with US computers with free trials. I've had it for years. Only get it free now though because its included in my Comcast package. Norton had the last false reading for Graal, this time its McAfee being dumb.

True, But McAfee seems to find a Trojan in my Graal. It looks like the same for everybody else.
It's the only way I can open my Graal x_x

xXziroXx 09-12-2009 11:39 AM

Can't you white-list Graal.exe then?

BlueMelon 09-12-2009 12:24 PM

mcafee is off and its still not working..

Craigus 09-12-2009 02:22 PM

Ive got the same problem, i'm also not prepared to get rid of Mcafee since i get it included with my internet package at no extra cost.

I tried this, But I can't find it on the Programs List. My Trusted list is also empty for some reason o.o

Can't you manually browse to your Graal folder and add Graal.exe?

Mark Sir Link 09-12-2009 05:34 PM

the home editions of McAfee software do not allow you to add programs to the trusted list yourself.

I've submitted the client to Avert and hopefully McAfee can resolve this quickly and release a new DAT.

Mark Sir Link 09-12-2009 06:35 PM

Update:
inconclusive [ graal.exe ]
Upon analysis the file submitted does not appear to contain one of the 200,000 known threats in the AutoImmune database. The file may contain a new threat, or no code capable of being infected. Your submission is being forwarded to an Avert Labs Researcher for further analysis. You will be contacted by AVERT through e-mail with the results of that analysis.

I don't see how it was classified as a Virus in the first place.

I scanned it with VirusTotal, Nothing was found.

It doesn't actually remove Graal.exe It removes a couple of the files that make it run. They auto download again when you restart but McAfee kills them again. Without the ability to make it a trusted site, you're stuck.

people already posted possible reasons, why not try reading a few posts?

Mark Sir Link 09-12-2009 09:27 PM

the issue seems to have been resolved, can anyone else with McAfee check?

Hello Derek, you censored your user name in the Windows Explorer box, but forgot the one in the McAfee window.

DuBsTeRmAn 10-25-2009 01:05 PM

Who says graal doesnt have a trojan? I bet all the staffs are telling us its not and put it on exceptions and then they steal our files! :O
