Thinking about things, what do you think?

Thinking of giving Dev Admin back to Thor. Then assuming a position as a freelance scripter on classic.

Why?
I'm not going to lie, I don't like to be an admin.
You get caught up in all the drama and administrative BS like assignments, hiring, handling disputes, and all the other admin garbage, that you really don't get to do what you originally signed up for.

Actually making stuff that is enjoyable without having to worry about anything else. With Dev Admin, I am constrained due to time to pick one or the other, it sucks.

What do you think?

EclipsedAngel 06-09-2009 12:47 AM

WHERE'S THE "I don't know" OPTION?

Freelance, you mean like how Massokre is now?

I fired him a couple days back, but kind of, I'd be working on projects I want to work on, and not dealing with admin bs and Rufus constantly trying to get his hand in things.

Wanna try posting the truth?

Elizabeth 06-09-2009 12:53 AM

idk who he is but i don't like his name so i voted no

Luda 06-09-2009 12:54 AM

There should be an option for neither. I'm not voting.

DarkCloud_PK 06-09-2009 12:56 AM

Pretty much me or him, don't know who else you can throw in that position.

Crono 06-09-2009 01:02 AM

"freelance", lol.

ffcmike 06-09-2009 01:04 AM

This comes as a surprise to me,
it's not something i've been pursuing,
i've been somewhat busier over the past several weeks in life and will continue to be atleast for another 2 months,
so i'll be honest here and say I don't think this would be an ideal solution,
but I completely understand why DC feels this way,
it's something I felt myself back when I had the position,
and ultimately if you lose your enjoyment of having the position then there's a chance your work both on the Dev side of things aswell as Administration side of things will suffer.

I dont know you, or what's going on with Classic, but you should do what feels right to you because you cannot do a good job otherwise.

Rufus 06-09-2009 01:21 AM

I agree with Luda that the position should go to neither of you, but if I had to pick between the two it wouldn't be you.

xnervNATx 06-09-2009 01:32 AM

wtf

BlackSolider 06-09-2009 01:35 AM

Don't care who as the long as the work gets done and done well.

Remonq 06-09-2009 01:39 AM

You should do what you feel you want to do. You don't need public opinion on what you should do.

BlackSolider 06-09-2009 04:27 AM

No but you need public opinion on what you should do to make the server better for everyone who plays/cares.

MysticX2X 06-09-2009 04:45 AM

Content output is the players concern, not dilemma of Staff.

Development goes on regardless of who comes and goes. DC is a good developer and is still staying with Classic, just not on an administrative level (If he does decide to step down). It's just that you don't need people telling you to stay or not stay if you are feeling like you should.

fa12 06-09-2009 06:23 AM

I have a feeling Rufus is someone else that is staff in classic but I don't know who. Probably paranoia of mine.

I meant development of content. That may be a problem now but I'm just saying that DC potentially stepping down shouldn't be an "OMGCLASSICWILLDIE" issue as Gladius describes it. And that DC doesn't need public approval/opinion if he feels like he wants to quit.

Ares 06-09-2009 07:25 PM

whatever feels best to you, sir

he knows you'll say it.. indians can see the future, you should know this

Luda 06-09-2009 08:31 PM

lol

Crono 06-09-2009 08:33 PM

I think that you shouldn't have to gather up what the players think about what you think you're thinking regarding classic and your position.

Yeah that didn't come out as great as I imagined it would. :(

Ironic, because DC's from Wisconsin...

acaremon02 06-10-2009 11:58 AM

I am so disappointed.

If we're having a change again,
It has to be someone who can manage this time.
I don't care if (s)he's the best or worst developer in the world.
Someone with leadership skills,
Someone with IDEAS,
and someone who can keep the group working.

Or am I asking for too much?

BlackSolider 06-10-2009 04:27 PM

@ Mystic

Perhaps.

@ Midi

Not really, it sounds realistic.

No the general philosophy on that is "someone who can script decent".
