how to increase the playercount?

What could attract people on Zone...

Jesper 03-08-2009 11:15 AM

More updates, a good game got a weekly update, Zone got a monthly...

And some more event hosting would be good!

MiniOne 03-08-2009 11:21 AM

@Jasper: If you think logically that's not how playercount would grow, that's how you maintain playercount.
To make the playercount grow either advertise or hope more people spread it through mouth.

yes... grow up is for a long period. not only during 1 event...

Jesper 03-08-2009 12:28 PM

More hosting = more fun, more fun = more players.

yes but players stay for event, and after it, they go back...
We need an average of 25 or 30 players... i think
not an average of 10
...
lol

Nataxo 03-08-2009 02:46 PM

Events, especially good ones hosted at the right time boost the playercount. Jesse knows this. But Events cant be keeping zone alive.... they're just temporary.

I'd suggest more achivments.

Donark 03-08-2009 03:49 PM

The holiday points thing idea from tsu,
http://forums.graalonline.com/forums...ad.php?t=83391

MagikMasterMind 03-08-2009 04:17 PM

Yeah my holiday idea.

And I also tough of some achievements. God that would be great. I would like to see something COD'ish... Like:

Get 175kills with X weapon.
Once done, you can unlock something like + Accuracy(precision), Faster Reloads, or stuff like this.

This would be insane. Just.. Insane.

Ravenblade1979 03-08-2009 05:01 PM

updates, maybe give some incentive to actually play again (like lowered subscription price)

thats like asking the government to give you a huge refund come tax time. Just won't happen.

bahamutstevetff 03-08-2009 07:50 PM

lol i thought he ment how to make the current players grow up lol

seanthien 03-08-2009 08:00 PM

You just say "moar events", but as I recall when zone started hosting alot more, the community and the player count dropped. I remember playing 6 months without a event, I kept playing to try and WIN a event.

Its happening in Aus, most of the country is getting $900 in the coming weeks

hilary1612 03-09-2009 03:07 AM

Zone is too repetitive, it's pretty much step into Ircia, get as many kills as you can, run when you're about to die and call the person chasing you a noob, heal, pull out sniper or face the person chasing repeat heal/run till they die. Events, from what I've seen is also pretty much the same thing few things to do overall.

Zone doesn't have enough things to do which is why few people play. Plus having only events to keep people playing is kind of sad. The gameplay should be able to grab and keep players not events. Add something new to the gameplay, not more events.

Knightmare1 03-09-2009 03:34 AM

we should make 3d zone.

MiniOne 03-09-2009 07:39 AM

Zone + Events = Old Players remaining which therefore means a stable and playercount which doesn't grow.
Zone + Advertisement = New Players coming in which therefore means a growing playercount.

I agree Jasper events are fun but it doesn't bring in new players since how do new players hear about these events if there's no advertising?

Anyway the simplest way for any business or in this case game to grow is through spreading the word about it either through advertisement (simplest method) or mouth of word (this may be harder since I personally would find it embarrassing going around saying I play a 2d game which resembles two games not allowed to be discussed on the forums mixed together) , as well as bring in quality goods which are worth how much it's being advertised for. (1year gold = 40 pounds)
Which I don't believe is a decent trade but that's for a different thread.

yo_momma516 03-09-2009 04:22 PM

Advertise it on all the games that kids play now a days, and it will attract them to come play. Like put one on whatever it's called, that would attract some more people :D

Yes, and put it on forums.

Ravenblade1979 03-09-2009 04:45 PM

Advertisement is a huge part of it but if cyberjourers didn't like where they were right now don't you think they wouldn't be holding a contest or something for the best advertisement.

Why would they try a 3D V. of Zone o_O ? I would just call that epic fail...

bahamutstevetff 03-09-2009 08:34 PM

zone 3d would have to be REALLY good to be worth playing over the top online shooters. and i doubt it ever could be.

I fail to understand your logic. Kinda sad that when zone hosted events like once every 3 months they had more/better players then now.

That would cost money, something I doubt they want to pay.

Graal 3d was just plain ugly. It looked so blobby.

zone + 3d? Realy, zone doesn't have enough dev staff for simple bugs/glitches and releases.

my point exactly.

WaDaFack 03-10-2009 12:53 AM

The main thing that would attract BACK and NEW players would be lower prices, just like how it was before.

Why would that help? I think people are more concerned on what there paying for then the prices they have to pay and right now Zone isn't at its best.

It's pretty obvious he's not interested in realy helping zone, he's just complaining that prices are a bit higher then before.

I guess, but i doubt they'll change the prices anyways so there's no use complaining about them.

Makes you wonder what he's thinking when he typed that up and clicked to post here doesn't it. :X

MiniOne 03-10-2009 07:07 AM

Sean my logic is this. If you host events the current players may remain in the game though newer players would have no idea of the event since they've never heard of it, that's where my idea for advertising kicks in. If we advertise these events and a friendly community out to the general public we may see new players come and join.

Ravenblade1979 03-10-2009 04:15 PM

Ok MiniOne this is where you should add onto the events. Advertising events just isn't enough. If your going to advertise you have to entice them with zone. You have to tell them EVERY GOOD POINT about it. Make them salivate, make them dream, make them want to play it. Anyone can come in the zone forums and check the events schedule but to truly capture them you need to give them all the information that is needed to peak their interest so they will start playing.

seanthien 03-10-2009 11:12 PM

It's quite easy to make them wanna log on and see what's happening, getting them to stay however is like impossible.

MiniOne 03-11-2009 07:38 AM

The thing most businesses do is apply a exaggerated version of their product therefore attracting in people and making them wonder what may be achieved or obtained with the product. Afterward to make them continue purchasing they offer special deals to the consumer and this way most people tend to continue purchasing the product.

For Zone you would have to advertise it as a mix between games without having a breaching any copyright laws. By doing this and adding words which make it sound like it's unbelievably good, will attract players, whilst making them stay offer them a reward for joining e.g. if you join this game you will have access to blah blah blah and so on.

1. Cost money
2. Once they have a run in with photons and the community they'll want to leave.
