Increased Inbox

Please increase the inbox space for the average user. I'm constantly 100 percent full, and the amount of actual space it takes to store a PM is literally almost non-existent.

DustyPorViva 02-02-2009 05:28 AM

I agree... though they won't even decrease the search time so meh.

Tigairius 02-02-2009 06:33 AM

I agree.

WhiteDragon 02-02-2009 06:41 AM

I don't get PMs. :(

Fixed this problem. :)

But more PM space wouldn't go astray.

Elizabeth 02-02-2009 05:34 PM

please. it's annoying when you're trying to have a conversation.

cbk1994 02-02-2009 09:36 PM

Agreed.

Learn to clean your inbox?

This is a forum, not an instant messaging service.

You're missing the point. I believe the OP implies inbox size is better measured by the content of the PMs rather than simply the count. A 100 relatively small PMs should not fill it.

CharlieM 02-02-2009 11:06 PM

Odd my inbox went from 94 to 99 without receiving a new pm

DustyPorViva 02-02-2009 11:14 PM

Sent PMs count as well.

I didn't send one either though

Again, simple maintenance would allow you to store up to 100 messages in your inbox at one time. To me, that is far more than the average person would need. Maybe make it an option to delete your draft immediately after it is sent?

Wasn't the inbox size increased once before?

Grats dude. Then don't use the suggested increase. I get numerous PMs, several with information I'd like to save and keep for records.

It hurts nothing to increase the inbox size. Absolutely nothing. Your argument is moot.

Crono 02-03-2009 12:51 AM

Yes please, I don't like having to export it all as a messy XML file. :(

How much of an increase do you want for the inbox anyway?

DustyPorViva 02-03-2009 01:10 AM

200 would be great.

Loriel 02-03-2009 01:40 AM

If you use PMs for something other than sending someone your IM contact info, you are doing it wrong.

And this is what I'm saying right here.

Elizabeth 02-03-2009 02:40 AM

so, discussing things concerning your infractions or bans or deleted posts, or whatever it may be, is wrong?

Completely missing the point or adding a random point may also be wrong? Why would you keep a record of that crap in your inbox?

what if the staff member was harassing you? you'd obviously want to keep it to show stefan, or unixmad, or someone along those lines.

You could save it on your computer?

annnd, you'd get accused of false information? they actually know it's true if they go into your inbox and find it there, rather than a screenshot or word document that's easy to edit.

Then, go ahead and forward it to everyone you need to have it. I save mine on my computer.

There are 4 Admins, Stefan, unixmad, Ibonic, and myself. I seriously doubt all 4 boxes would be full, and I doubt if even 1 would be full

AND, not to mention that you can edit it while you're forwarding it, so the best thing to do, would be to get them to go into your inbox and look.

you can, but you need a really, REALLY good reason to, if you don't have a good reason though, i don't suggest anyone doing it lol

No, I cant. I dont have the rights to.
There would have to be a very extreme reason to go into someones private messages.
I suggest you do what I suggested. I doubt you get harrassed that much to fill your inbox. :asleep:

well, the conversation i had with you yesterday filled my inbox, and i only had 15 messages in it

Sam 02-03-2009 05:15 PM

I think it's a good idea to increase the inbox. It could be one of a bunch of features for a Gold forum account the users can buy. :D

Elizabeth 02-03-2009 05:20 PM

oh, and you could make the whole "posts not included in the NGRT" a gold feature too! good idea sam!

We should just make moderation a gold feature too.

While we're at it, we could just make the forums a Gold feature too. :)

Elizabeth 02-03-2009 06:29 PM

..or not

Rufus 02-03-2009 06:38 PM

What's the problem with increasing the inbox? There are people whom I speak to on the forums that I don't necessarily need nor want on any instant messaging programs I have. I often get PM'd about projects that I'm contributing towards and sometimes I have a lot of useful references that never get a second look once they're exported to XML because I completely forget.

The current limit is 70 for me, can we at least get it raised to 150/200? It's not going to be that taxing.

You shouldn't get that much infractions/bans/deleted posts if you are quite someone nice :asleep:

And if it's just to keep in mind that you've been warned or received infractions points, I guess User CP is here for this too, no?

Anyway, the increased inbox is a pretty good idea, I'm always busy to delete msgs I send /received and only come to do this when I'm about to be full...

200 plz.
