Strange keysword
 

Here is a sword I made for my friends rpg game it doesnt have great shading I am not expecting it to b/c its for an rpg but what do you think about the shape.Attachment 46009

I don't really like the shape, you've gone too wild with it.. and I definitely don't like the shading.


Can you please explain this part?

Oh, my friend is making a rpg via rpg maker he does not care much for shading so I told him ok I will just make these because they are fast and easy so you can get a lot of weapons.

Why is it called keyblade :)

Guessing you never played Kingdom Hearts the original keyblade is in a shape of a sword/key each opens doors to new worlds plus you fight with the blade..

But his doesn't look like a keyblade ;p I have played KH tho

I bet if someone on this forum shaded that it would look amazing.
(provided they totally redid the handle which is kind of ridiculously too big for the blade in my opinion.)

about the shape:

i do not think it looks very much like a keyblade, and the handle is a bit big, but those are easy fixes.

why not

In pixelart you try to get a good result with using as less colors as possible :P

I just have one quick say about the colors you're using.

If you're using MSPaint, DO NOT use those colors on that toolbar.
They're too generic, the only colors I would use is black, white, and
the lavender in the top right corner off of that toolbar. The people
that use THOSE colors are probably new to pixelart, or unless your
name was Gerami.

How come your swords never resemble swords?

Some of your designs are a little too abstract. The details of your sprites should not override the basic structure of what you're making. Try using basic forms and then elaborating on them later. It helps to do lineart beforehand, and only use color when it's absolutely ready for it.

also, all your shading is, is a gradient from light to dark from top to bottom, the idea is, to define a lightsource, the shape of the object, and add shading/lighting.

This looks like coral not a sword x.X

How can someone hold the thing it has spikes coming from the damn helt x.x

Well I understand what you are all saying but I also customize my colors and just because they have spikes does not mean you can not hold them. In Naruto the fish akukski uses that huge sword that has spikes.

It doesnt have spikes on the handle z.z

If you said that you are just beginning this that is a lie. You have been doing this for like 6 or more months and still have not improved by what I see now.

Aww kain don't be so hard on the fella... We all start some where then quit then always return look at me i stopped gfx for months even years and when i came back i learn a few stuff from you :-p...

he just need improvement err dude try pixeljoint.com it's the place for pros you can learn alot there...Currently the best person on that community is Fool who may help me sooner or later XD....

But you can always look at old stuff and new and you can see that some people can use 5 colors and make it into a awesome pixel art..

Your lineage are weird i must agree but you can improve ...
