New gfx for elemental sword

hello graalians,

the elemental sword(attack fire and ice) is in the honor point shop and i would like to have a new gfx for it cuz the current one looks pretty wierd on the player

so if you have skills present your gfx here

I made this for maybe a start.. I like the middle one, but it might not fit in with the damage the weapon does with both fire and ice. So I added an orange outline on the last image. Maybe we could do the last image with a orange animated flame around the blue. Kind of what the Thunder Sword and Ice Flame swords have?
But eh, this is a start.. Handle could definitely use some more work.

I will try to get a decent looking animation for it going then :D

Sorry for double
Here's the flames I came up with. The O.G. is the original one, the 1&2 is the 1st and 2nd step for the first flames animation. IF you do not like those, tell me what you think about the other flame aura around the bottom sword (ones with flaming ?'s around it).

Doesn't look very elemental to me. I mean, it looks glowy, and perhaps firey, but not elemental.

If it's fire and ice, I'd love to see some nice light blue and red flames or something.

If you're using fire and ice (LOL) then you should at the very least include some kind of effect which shows the fire and ice effects conflicting. I don't know how you'd show this but there has to be some conflict, I mean you're using FIRE and ICE for gods sake.

I like where you're going with it, but you should probably touch it up some.

Those are interesting but I'm not sure if I like them as much.

Add some light/particle effects to the gani maybe? Guess that would look quite good.

I'm thinking bigger flames.

Draenin 08-04-2008 01:02 AM

Ceserthen's is the only one worthy, in my eyes. However, the lightning around it doesn't quite look right. The fire and ice reminds me of stained glass, and I really like that.

yea like making a new image with just the glow part and add it as an light effect on top of the sword image.

PrinceOfKenshin 08-04-2008 09:01 AM

I will gani it if you finish all the views :D

Don't swords on GK use a template and gani attributes so that there is only one set of ganis for all swords?

Ceserthen's the best. The other one doesn't look right. The blue and red don't come together.

Draenin 08-04-2008 10:52 PM

I'm still not that crazy about the lightning. It makes it look kind of messy. It'd be neat to see the yellow inside be transformed into lightning and the outside made to look more like ice, though.

I like the one in the middle in the second picture, personally. The lightning wrapping around the sword really does nothing for it.

Only way it'd even have potential of looking good would be if it was either animated (gif/mng) or have it's own gani with effects in it.

Draenin 08-05-2008 12:52 AM

I disagree. Lightning swirling around a sword is an outrageously cheezy animation.

Googi 08-05-2008 09:42 PM

If they're animated, just posting the frames separately isn't that helpful in making a good assessment, especially since things like the frame rate can be the difference between good and bad.

It's also pretty hard to assess whether GFX are good or bad without screenshots of them in the "environment" of GK.

It's also very easy to superimpose the sprite into a screenshot to get an accurate depiction of how it will look with the rest of the environment.

I'm suggesting it because other people might find it helpful. I'm pretty indifferent between all the different GFX that have been proposed.

James 08-06-2008 06:57 AM

It would be cool if the sword just had 4 stones in it that represented the elements and every time you swing it, it has a different "elemental-looking" effect.

I just had a try at this. I've never made anything 'ice' before so my ice is pretty bad.
I got the idea from Dreanin's half-and-half sword instead of the usual sword-with-fire-outline.

Draenin 08-06-2008 08:19 AM

Kinda looks like a spiny club. Hahah.

That's a cool start.
