green boxes

I see people with green boxes around their body when the player zoom is changed (mostly the people with cards)

I already tried reinstalling, didn't work.

Chompy 07-12-2008 12:20 AM

I've had a problem with this aswell..

It also happens weird stuff when you hover your mouse over people with trading card effects, like images disapearing, polygons being changed etc.. kinda annoying..

Frankie 07-12-2008 12:23 AM

yeah, but this is completely different.

even if I use era's scripted :zoom command I get the green box around my body then I have to restart graal for it to go away.

but no matter what, if any other player has a zoom effect they have a green box around their body.

Hmm, yeah, I was mentioning that aswell, thought it would go in the same category..

But yeah, seems like bodies aren't transed after being zoomed

Crono 07-12-2008 02:20 AM

I have this problem as well.

9600GT, latest nvidia drivers.
Directx 9, latest update.

Frankie 07-12-2008 10:08 PM

I massed out on Era and a lot of other people have this problem.

could be graal.

Crono 07-12-2008 10:54 PM

What graphic card are you using? Could be an nvidia driver related problem.

Frankie 07-14-2008 12:48 AM

nvidia 8600

Crono 07-17-2008 10:07 PM

Chompy what graphic card are you using?

TSAdmin 07-18-2008 01:45 AM

I'm guessing it is a Graphics thing. I have never seen what you're talking about. I'm using an ATI Radeon XPRESS 200M (Yes, I use a Laptop)

Frankie 07-20-2008 01:03 AM

I would appreciate if this could be looked into because it's really obnoxious to look at ;o

Crono1508 07-21-2008 08:54 PM

Ugh, I have the exact same problem whenever my Graal character changes color, size, or a different gani in general.

I have GeForce 8800 GT updated with the newest driver.

Crono 08-02-2008 12:25 AM

So, thus far, everyone who has had the problem:

Crono: 9600GT
Frankie: 8600 series
Chompy: 8800GT
Crono1508: 8800GT

It seems we all have relatively new nvidia drivers too.

Hi Stefan.

Stephen 08-02-2008 01:14 AM

It could be the specific type of PNG type (the way it's saved). But it's probably the graphics card - I had this problem a few years ago and it was the drivers.

Crono1508 08-02-2008 01:52 AM

My ATI worked perfect for Graal.
It was a RADEON 9600 SERIES (older card) no problems with Graal.

I get a GeForce and green boxes appear.

It wasn't doing this on my Geforce 7600GT. It was after I got the latest 9600GT drivers that it started happening, so I just assume it has to do with the latest geforce drivers.

Crow 08-02-2008 04:40 PM

GeForce 6600 here, no green boxes. But I guess it might be an overall body problem. When the alpha of an npc/player changes, and only when the alpha is changed, the body is a white box until I move out of sight and back to the npc/player.

Strange. Do you have the latest 175.19 drivers?

Crow 08-02-2008 05:21 PM

I always have the latest drivers.

Can you try logging onto Valikorlia, going on the worldmap, then going back to a normal town to see if a green box shows around your player? It seems to happen mostly on Valikorlia for me but once it happens there, it doesn't change on any server until I restart Graal.

Frankie 08-04-2008 08:18 PM

I see green boxes around OTHER people's character when their zoom is changed, but I have noticed on Zodiac when people use the stealth skill that makes their character faded and black, it puts a green box on my body even though I'm not the one using the skill. It sticks to me no matter what server I go on until I restart Graal.

No green box, no white box, everythings fine there.

Chompy 08-04-2008 09:55 PM

Hmm, I had GeForce 6600 before I got 8800, and I didn't have green boxes back then, I have it now tho

Crono 08-11-2008 06:45 AM

Heh, get them on Vista too so it's not an OS issue. :p

You mentioned that you have a beta version.
Does it happen on that as well?

(It seems all new GeForce video cards, with their new drivers is the problem)

Crono 08-11-2008 03:34 PM

It happens on the beta version as well.

So far we know it's the high end 8 series and above. Need to ask Googi to check if he gets the problem too, as he has a mid/low range 8 series card.

Crono1508 08-12-2008 12:44 AM

Generally speaking, what can you even think of why it occurs?

Graphics video card overkill for Graal? Honestly, what would trigger it.

Wish Stefan would fix it though.

The ****ed up system of the bodies? You know, the body colors and all that stuff.

Crono1508 09-03-2008 04:41 PM

Bump for Stefan!

Hopefully something can be done because Crono stated that in the newer beta version the problem still occurs.

Angel_Light 04-30-2009 11:49 PM

i believe it's something with 32bit images, i had it and i changed my display to 16bit and it fixed most graphical errors i have

I've had problems with bodies saved from Photoshop and like programs. If they're not 16-bit indexed PNGs, they tend to have transparency issues.

They tend to have any weird issue imaginable if you don't throw them through gif2mng.exe.

Just in case you don't know about that one:
gif2mng -b body.png
Will fix the palette order of body.png and also (tries to) add transparency. Using #008000 as a background color works pretty well here.

Jugglernaut 06-10-2009 12:19 AM

Bump, because I have the same problem, too. Happens the same way for me, too (Stealth on Zodiac, Super Mushroom on UN, etc)

But I use ATI Radeon HD 3450 (My Vista bit is 32, also)

White boxes appear over heads, depending on the backround color, white boxes over shadows (Such as the shadow under your feet on UN), other random GFX

I can supply screenshots if you want

Crono 06-10-2009 12:40 AM

Hi Stefan this problem has been posted about for almost a year now.

I've never experience this problem.

Graphics Car : ATI Radeon 2400 HD Pro

Skyld 06-10-2009 11:12 AM

Can you guys attempt to start the client in OpenGL mode (Graal.exe -opengl) and see if the problem still occurs?
