Nothing , i just wanted to say it , any problem?

DustyPorViva 03-30-2008 09:27 PM

No, I have no problem with a post that was created just because you wanted to say it, with no meaning behind it at all.

blazeingonix 03-30-2008 09:40 PM

No you can't.

Alpha layers, layers (for text etc), resolution management, anti-aliasing, and much more.

DustyPorViva 03-31-2008 02:17 AM

It's not about what the program allows, it's the fact that you can do it... even if it takes more effort. It may not be able to do alpha layers and layers, or anti-aliasing, but you can pull off the same work without them.

I see what you're getting at, but really it can't pull off alpha such as percentage of alpha.

But yes, I see what you mean with anti-aliasing, etc.

DustyPorViva 03-31-2008 03:01 AM

You can't pull off alpha, but you can manually draw something to look as though it's alpha by changing the values yourself I've done it many times before I got photoshop.

I suppose, but when adding these images into other programs, they will loose the semi-transparency.

Ah, you mean saving with alpha transparency.
Of course Paint lacks a lot of features :P Still remains though that it's well enough suited for pixel art, just requires more effort.

Yes, paint is fine for pixel art, but when you get into desktop publishing ...

I have to design graphics at my school for the yearbook with Paint.

I've resorted to bringing my laptop with Photoshop CS3 to school every day.

Hey, who needs keyboards, monitors or even operating systems? I always draw my stuff using punch cards. I never understood people who use these fancy algorithms to draw gradients. A computer isn't supposed to do tedious tasks for you; they're too unreliable. This is why I always print the new versions of Graal on paper and plot the functions myself. I must admit though, I do use a modified abacus to send network packages.

DustyPorViva 03-31-2008 01:34 PM

Well that's a horrible way to try to explain it :P
In the end, it's not about functionality to most people but experience and accessibility.
I use MSPaint because Photoshop isn't meant for pixel work... is that much of a surprise? And because I've been using it for so many years, I find it comes much more naturally than using other programs like GIMP that I've tried. I just stick to what I know how to use best. This wasn't a matter of what was better, just the fact that it can do that stuff, you just have to go about it a different and more difficult way.

The GIMP have a few interface modifications you could try. One of them attempts to duplicate Photoshop.

cbk1994 03-31-2008 05:40 PM

I agree on not using photoshop for pixel art, but I generally dont use paint for it...

I just hate it when every damn post that is made that is not done perfectly is debated on. I wish that you guys would really stop being badasses. He used paint. His photoshop doesn't work. he was bored. I understand dusty when Blaze said RoflZZzzzzzZZZZ I think it's completely useless and should be deleted. but stop it and I want to have a read without so much debating, just comments and maybe a tip or two. Also you guys are getting off topic...

Geonosis_Phoenix 04-03-2008 12:41 AM
