Developers Circle
 

So I've created a guild. The purpose of the guild is to bring the developers of Graal together. There's a spot for everyone, whether you script, make graphics, write, come up with ideas, or just want to learn and have people there to ask questions or opinions. Right now the guild has about ~12 people, but I hope to expand it a lot so everyone can get the help, or help people, that's needed.

Things I have interested in perhaps doing for the guild include:
> A dedicated website to post tutorials, ideas, theories, or anything else related.
> A server for everyone in the guild to just develop with. This would include access to NPC rights for only you, and levels and graphics folder for only you. This is a stretch though as I doubt I'll ever be able to pay for one, but it may just happen depending on support.
> Maybe forums... but the guild comes with a discussion board... I'll see.

Anyways, I'm only interested in those who wish to help the community... I don't want jerks or anything like that. If you don't like helping, don't bother as it's the sole purpose of the guild. The Initiate category probably won't be give nto anyone as of right now as there's nothing special about the guild... but if we get special stuff like a server, I'll have people inducted as initiates for a while until I feel they're okay to have access.

If this is in the wrong forums, just ago ahead and move it.

This is kinda like #gscript, no? They have there IRC channel, there dedicated server offering pastebin, wiki and such and at one point they offered a gserver for members ^^

Last time I checked out #gscript it was just a bunch of idlers. And this is meant for every type of developer... but I guess the concept is the same.

This is a good initiative, IMHO.
I'd like to voulunteer to help people design better and plan better, instead of just going with one rhough sketch.

I thought I'd add: I don't have any rules about wearing your tags, but the more people that wear tags, the easier it will be to find help. Also, too many people not wearing tags will knock the guild activity % down, and may end up getting the guild suspended/disbanded.

Indeed. I went in there to see about some scripting help and I was told that nobody there scripts and I was looking in the wrong place.

yes and also the #g guilds only let in the 1337, if I get it right this guild is not only doing that, but it is trying to be helpful and give guidance to starting developers.:) I like the idea, but I have not done anything in awhile and I wasn't very good when I did, I do have interest in scripting but not much time.

Well the guild isn't just for developers, but also for those who want to learn . We have a position called Trainee for that.

So....I think the most important reason that people don't know of stuff going on is because they dont check the forums. So they wouldn't know what this Developers Circle means. Why don't we just spread some mass messages explaining?

Did you even read the first post? We're letting EVERYBODY in. This is a guild about learning and becoming more skilled at your craft.

Ya, this is about learning and teaching, this isn't an elitist guild.
If anyone is a problem they'll be booted--I don't want anyone to try to ruin a good thing with this.

Mine's more of a TRADE/craft than just a craft
since I help people if needed.
Like how Endora's systems weren't working a few days ago, I (helped? dunno if jt was me AND/or the other) fixed it.

Well thanks to the pure generosity of Nabru, the Developers Circle has its own server for everyone to learn, and communicate with each other. Be sure to give him your thanks! ...But before anyone gets access, I have got some strict rules:

• You will get the rights I give you(or Nabru, of course) and that is it. I do not want to see ANY weapons that skirt your rights given.
• You will touch your work and only your work unless the owner of work says otherwise.
• Either your player or RC will be wearing the Developers Guild tag while on the server. I don't want to see anyone on the server and your tag not on. Sorry, but guild activity is already very low and I don't want the guild to get suspended.
• You will have to provide me with a secure IP range or PCID before I will allow you on the server.
• Get along. I don't want to hear arguing, fighting, insulting, or anything of the likes. This is a guild meant to help everyone out... that's not part of it.
• Do not abuse this. Do not do anything that will get the server in trouble. Do not upload malicious scripts like scripts that will lag the server purposely or kick the NC/server. If I find you have done this on purpose I will kick you without question.
• BACK UP YOUR OWN WORK. No one will be responsible for your work except for you. Even if someone else deletes your work, you should have backed it up. If you can't take the take to back up your stuff then it's hard to really feel sympathetic for you. You're going to be working with a lot of other people and **** can happen.

Not abiding by any of the post rules will most likely get you kicked from the server and maybe out of the guild. This is a privilege that any of us is lucky to have. You don't need to have it, and I'm not going to fight to give it to someone who doesn't deserve it.

Everyone will get access to their own WNPC scripts and their own folder to upload images/levels to. To give me your IP or PCID please PM on the forums or IM one of my IM services. Please don't e-mail me, I don't check much.

Nice idea bring developers together to help with development, I always help out with development if i can so i'm in.

Oh sounds nice, not really interested in doing any work for a server... to little time and making your own concept art with test levels/scripts is always fun.

If Dusty's willing to get a server for it he can perhaps make some paypal address which people donate for, to get the server up. I'd donate, atleast. I like the idea.
