Too much lag on graal: anything needs to be forwarded?
Before you say anything... its not my internet connection, i can stream movies and play other online games flawlessly and laglessly... when it comes to play graal, it takes about 3 seconds for the login screen to come up (virtually nothing), a further 10 seconds for me to actually log in and when i finally get on server selection... i choose a server and nothing happens... nothing at all... about a minute later a connecting box will come up... and a further while later it will just drop the connection.
I managed to get on graal earlier today for about 10 seconds of gameplay then the lag got soo bad nothing would work, there was about 10-15 seconds delay between "unstick me" and the "do not move for 30 secs..." I then got disconnected from graal altogether. I have no idea what could be causing this, if i had to guess i would say i dont have the right ports open... if its not that i would have to say im clueless... Please help??? |
Hmm, where abouts in the world are you? Could be some latency with a backbone connection somewhere, since I am able to connect to Graal fine and experience very little lag from England, and my connection is not exactly very fast.
|
Heh, I'm living in Germany, have an almost constant ping of 64 to 70 ms when I ping google website, but when I ping the host Era lies on for example, it's always around 190, no idea whats going on there ;o
|
Hmmm weird.
Are the graal website and forums loading fast? Is it just the network or is the client slow (e.g. test by clicking on different serverlist entries to see if the selection is changing immediatelly) ? |

Has to do something with my location :o Pretty sucks though.

And the client speed is fast (testing the serverlist clicking), except that connecting and receiving data is very slow?

Raemus, make sure your computer is set to its normal resolution, if its not you'll start lagging, and gradually get worse ^_^
Had the problem a few months ago, and that fixed it. |

I know its wierd, :( i just wanna play graal again :( ='(

try setting your comp resolution to the 16-bit mode, also little bit about your comp, Ram, CPU, connection type. (I know you said it wasnt the connection but this little data might help us)

Hmmm there are a few things that can make Graal lag a lot.
Try to start it in fullscreen (press F3 to open the options or edit game_config.txt manually). Also eventually disable other graphic-intensive applications (e.g. Windows Blinds). |

The game went fine for a whil (hence why i havnt posted in a bit... it just... fixed itself) now its gone as it was before but a lot worse, now its a miracle if i can even login! :O!
something is definatly wrong... 1st i thought it must be vista ... so i came off my laptop and went on my PC...(which is XP) and it was the same story, ive reset the router, forwarded the ports, when i managed to get on for a bit i decided to set a fixed UDP to try that. and nothing :( i have literally ran out of things to try... can anyone suggest anything? |
***UPDATE
something very wierd... it seems i can send data to the servers fine, but its returning data thats the problem. reason lead to this conclusion: on zodiac, me and a friend did i test, i did "/shout hello" and asked if he could see it... on my screen, there was nothing, no npc's, no chatbox, nothing... and guess what... on his screen he saw.... "Daemus (52 Dark Knight) shouts: hello" but i didnt... how weird is that? |
Are you downloading anything? Try disabling UDP in game options also (or reenabling it).
|
Un was laggin pretty bad for me before but i disabled my udp options and it went ok from then.
EDIT: forget what i said. Un severly is laggin bad and it pisses the hell out of me in sparring |
