Gun -- NO FLAMING AT MY HORRIBLE...NESS

And here it is.

No saying it's bad. If you do I want cunstructive critisism.

I'm newb (:noob: !YAY! :noob:) at GFXing so I don't want you to say "You suck."

Also, I made a small one at first, so I also made a big one (same exact stuff only bigger)... I'll post both.

Horrified 08-28-2007 03:20 AM

You suck.</joke>

Nice first attempt though, better then I could ever do. Maybe make it a bit shinier :D

It's supposed to be a pistol...
I based it off a machine pistol in Wikipedia :o
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_pistol (top one is what I based on)

Also I didn't have enough space to make it "oh so shiny" ;)
Really, think:
Are any guns on Graal shiny?

Another also:
Which one you think is better

smirt362 08-28-2007 03:24 AM

Triggers and the the little guard around them are round, not square.

Done, for both. :)

Now, people:
TELL ME WHICH IS BETTER SO I DON'T WASTE MY TIME ON BOTH!!

You have to remember the shininess comes from up top, where my imagined sun is.

Hmm... I like smaller one more cuz it looks less pillowed :(

Thrashsoul3 08-28-2007 04:00 AM

There is no barrel and the upper frame is too large compared to the handle and the trigger.

Well, basically.. you have a bit of a potential, I dont even think I could make guns when I was beginning pixel art. But anyways, This image just seems to be a bit too plain/desaturated/boxy. Try to be a bit more creative with your lines and remember you are making things for a game. I did a very quick edit of your gun (not the best in the world, but hey). I basically altered your colors and lines very quickly just to show you how much you could improve this piece without using much effort. Anyways.. Have a look.

xXziroXx 08-28-2007 05:45 AM

Looks perfect!

.... for a flare gun.

LOL thanks :)

Also use the smaller one please I dislike the bigger one :p

And your image looks nothing like my Russian Stechkin APS pistol :D

Very nice -_-

Try to add more variation in the colours, do add some shine but from a definitive light source, like the one that Sage did, but rather than using such dark colours at the front, lighten them up a tad to define the front end of the gun.

True...

I didn't want it to look pillowed and it was really small to begin...

Felix_Xenophobe 08-28-2007 08:59 PM

Okay, let's see YOU make a gun on your first go, at ANY GFX (besides a crappy crap GFX :D)

Kirble 08-28-2007 11:21 PM

Felix, he's tried and has asked for help, so..uhh...help him?

Oh yeah, and Switch, look at the barrel on it, it's a little bulky, bring it down by 1-2 pixels. Might look better.

Remember, I posted TWO of them. One, the bigger one, was because the small one felt a little too small to me. The smaller one looks better, IMO.

Left = Small ; Right = Large

He isn't me :(

Also...take the paint can and fill in the background with a dark color (a darkish green works pretty well). Makes it easier to see.

Switch 08-29-2007 02:03 AM

Okay, I made a TOTALLY new one from scratch, though I used Sage's as an inspiration.

I did that in this one :D I ALSO added a palette so the shading was easier for me.

Switch 08-29-2007 04:28 AM

Finished!!

Though it looks a little wierd to me... How about you?

I mean the left andright look good, but the up and down just... well... don't look so good...

Nope :)

Now I want critisism. Bad and good, on the 'finished' gun.

Switch 08-29-2007 06:13 PM

Okay well I added more shine to the 'finished' one.

Chompy 08-29-2007 06:18 PM

THey look like boxes to me but i dunno how i should go about fixing it

Chompy 08-29-2007 06:43 PM

down is right (for graal perspective) but the down one.. looks like you're lying down on your back and aiming on the sky :p

Switch 08-29-2007 06:46 PM

You mean the up one looks like ur lying on ur back?? @ Chompy

I know that, genious. That's why I'm done on the left/right.

I really don't feel like having you show me an edit of my stuff.

Just did an edit with the shading and the colors. You're using to many close colors which makes it look like there's alot of pillowshading going on which is a bad thing. You should generally use more contrasting colors to get a better shine. It's a sloppy edit and I haven't done any graphics in a while. But it should explain it better.

I'm really trying to help you here so you need to chill-out this has nothing to do with an argument or the other.

Not really, because we aren't arguiing. You're asking for help. So I'd explain to you how to make it better. It's not good to assume people's responses and their future behavior.

Switch 08-29-2007 08:04 PM

Okay, Stan.

I did what you said, though stuck with the original outline. Just put in a few lines to give it a twist. The good thing is I started off coloring wierdly, and it looked good, so I kept going with that design, and it came out un-pillowed :D

Well, I guess you're not as bad as I thought...

Switch 09-02-2007 02:01 AM

Okay I made a left/right sketch for a new one, Colt 1895 (a real gun) that's gonna be used for Ol' West.

The exclamation point is considered punctiation, you don't need a period after it.
