I was exremley bored, and made this out of the blue form scratch x-x

Not to be an arsonist here....but...
What the hell is it supposed to be? It looks kind of like a rock, painted very neatly with red lines and the sun is coming from the underneath of this rock. |

1. You have drawn a random shape that looks nothing like a rifle or gun of any kind. 2. The shading you have attempted on it is probably a use of the gradient tool in some graphics software, Adobe Photo shop, if I may? 3. You posted saying it was a rifle, if that looks like a rifle to you, you need to do some research. Always research before you do a graphic, and if you're not happy with it when done, don't publicize it, it's not your best work. |

Yeah, it's very pillow shaded, in a sense. Sort the shape of it out to actually look like something other than a rock.
Then try shading it. |

I bet half of you couldn't do any better. Lighten up, he can draw whatever the hell he wants to. You have to learn somewhere and if people constantly kill his hobby then he will never be good.

There's no trigger, no ammo pack, no deffinitive light source, just weird!
|
Well, ThrashSoul....come on, be honest, does that resemble ANYTHING that even looks like a rifle?
It's a rock. <-- See the full stop...that means the end point. The part where, I have rested my judgement. So you should accept the rock in it's entirity and stop shifting blame onto people. |
Seriously, maybe hes new to it.Perhaps give him some constructive criticism and maybe he will get better. Just don't act like a bunch of immature *****s going hey that sucks.

You guys are seriously the most immature bunch i've seen seen in any community, seriously grow the hell up. He obviously came to the Graphics section seeking help and advice, yet instead you guys flame and down his attempt to make graphics. It's obvious that he's new just as every other graphics designer once was, so why do you take the lollipops that you have stuck inside your sweet anus' out and give him some positive c&c instead of just negative feedback.
Anyways.. On topic: Deserted, My advice to you is, first before even attempting to create a gun, you should study a realistic example/picture of a gun. Than after you have begun to understand the basic layout of how a gun is crafted, just implement them into your own ideas and make a creation from what you have studied (your lineart). Dont just draw up any random old shape and than try to fill it in. Take the time in placing each and every last pixel in a position where you feel it belongs. After you have comprised a solid set of lines, if I were I would study shading (lightsources, anti-aliasing, shadows, even the effects that one color has on another color. www.spriteart.com is a good tutorial place, if it is still up..). Than after you have studied these things, maybe try studying other peoples shading techniques and building your own technique from others.. studying others pixel-art tends help out alot. But that is really all I can tell you for now, and with that said, lets hope you take bind to my words and actually take pixeling seriously, so that we may see another graphic artist on graal. :) |
I was going to say lighten up a little aswell...True it's not good, but that doesn't mean you guys gotta say **** like that. I remember, before I used paint shop pro, my graphics weren't too good. They were better than his, but still, everyone just has to find a program that they like, and if there any good, it'll start to show.
My advise, if this is for Zone (which I'm guessing, after seeing your posts on Zone, it is) go to the thread I just revived called "Need Help?", There's a tutorial I did, that involves Zone's shading style, and helps out with weapon outlines. Read that, and download paintshop pro 11 (preferably, or the latest update), and try doing the steps. You might get lucky! ^^ |
