Letting more items drop?

I was looking at the dead items thread, Instead of having to event items off make everything have a percentage it will drop from monsters. It will give all the new players a chance to get good items and save people from complaining about how the items are impossible to get. I'd goto the haunted house if more items could drop from monsters. It also gives players a reason to go kill monsters instead of idle in the trade. This isn't just about dead items I mean everything like anything not able to be acquired through alchemy or crafting. So like a Egg Shield could drop for one person but a War Hammer could drop for another. I don't mean every time, I mean like the rarer the items the lower drop rate so like an Egg Shield could drop 1/100000 and a War Hammer could drop 1/5000000.

yes that would be a lot better. I have trouble attaining objects because of my lack of money since the players who win the better stuff are uually much faster and have the ability to reach the quest npc's before I can. I agree with cube. :D

It's not about just how you can't get to the gold key quest in time it's to keep the items from having such a ridiculously high price so even the newer players have a chance. GK needs to do something to draw in more players having events every holiday doesn't draw in frequent players. The server is just to hand for newer players to start out without Cross server trading or USDing. This would also help stop that because it wouldn't be worth it if there was more of the items and it wasn't so hard to obtain them.

I don't know about tons of events but they do need to make at least some items a tad easier to get.

Cubical 02-15-2007 03:38 PM

I'm not talking about events o.O, I'm talking about monster drops.

monster drops are fine. I kill lots of monsters.

MasterNuke 02-15-2007 03:48 PM

Rare material drops from treasure map finishes/future dungeons and places to make new items imo.

and how many people can finish one of those? if your new?

MasterNuke 02-15-2007 04:31 PM

I don't think it takes a lot to finish a level 1 map.

Stromstedt 02-15-2007 04:56 PM

I totally agree. A lot of people aren't very good at events, and also another thing is that it is really hard to get started if you are new. This would give EVERYBODY a chance to progress in the game rather than a small select few that have been playing events longer.

Draenin 02-15-2007 04:58 PM

Enemies need to get stronger before new drops come in. Otherwise you'll run into the problem of enemies in the future getting to be too easy.

It is for new people who don't have a lot.

People have different gear. With the right gear, a level 10 could easily do one of those maps. The right gear is hard to come by though.

kia345 02-16-2007 04:47 AM

i actually like this idea. but how bout something like 'lower level, better chance of good items'

That would be open to abuse as a person can (still) keep themselves at a low level no matter how much they kill monsters as long as they use prayers to kill them.

Overall I favour making rare items "high-cost craftable" over making them super-rare monster drops, which makes getting items too luck-intensive.

EricCartman 02-16-2007 07:06 AM

There are "noob" items you can still get from crafting or the west dugeon. This works for the noobs to level enough at t-rexes with a craftable bow and get a couple dias. There's also mining where you can get dias. Those people that worked hard to get their items are going to be pissed off, it will create much more problems if all these noobs suddently found an uber item.

If for some wierd reason this does happen staff would have to make it so whoever did most damage or killed the monster gets the item so people with high speed wouldn't steal from the noobs.

zell12 02-16-2007 08:21 AM

I think we need to move away from this whole "get dias and improve your weapon 90897 times."

Have different level mobs in different areas. Make some new dungeons or something, or even fill the old ones (underground ones) with new areas of different level mobs, each gets progressively harder.... High level mobs, drop high level items...

Still should be a chance to obtain some "rarer" items off mostly all the mobs though.

Just take a look at how WoW does it, and do basically the same thing? :/

And then after that we change the server name to Zodiac Kingdoms.

At least they were smart and didn't use a very bad and outdated system. Oh well.

Gothika 02-16-2007 10:01 AM

I think making rare weapons drop isnt the way to go.
I would be gutted to see some noob run past with same equipment I have, only I had to do lots and lots of DoPV to raise the money to buy this stuff and I'm sure others will be too.
Even with a 1/5000000 drop rate. We could still have 10 of those items within a couple of weeks.

zell12 02-16-2007 10:46 AM

I'm not talking about these UB3R R4R3 WTFPWN items from events (but you have to remember that as the game progresses, there has to be better weapons) but just items almost as good as them.

The game needs more diversity in relation to weapons/items, and I think we need to start off with a whack of more mobs and then a whole bunch of items. I feel having events for limited edition items/weapons is okay, but not with retarded stats that severely unbalances the game, especially when that player decides to sell it to one person with the most amount of cash or something, then he ends up with a set of these and is untouchable...

Tigairius 02-22-2007 06:32 PM

Okay, time to get rich quick!
-someone makes an auto-leveling bot for the dungeons and it kills and loots all night.-
By the morning that person would probably have a ton of nice gear, hey, here's an idea, lets leave it on while I go to school.
-get home-
Wow look at this warhammer, damn, nice.

Hope you mean clothing too...the current pool of clothings getting a bit old...fast.

Ravenblade1979 02-22-2007 06:57 PM

Not to mention enemies, items, craftable stuff, event items..etc

Tigairius 02-22-2007 07:02 PM

I guess however this could be a good idea, as long as there were NEW items made to be dropped, perhaps some masks with some interesting stats? maybe an int+1 mask or something? cha+1 maybe? Need more cloaks too, perhaps a str+1 cloak would be due, although that could be too overpowered, as long as it was an extremely rare drop.

Regardless of how similar that plan is to Zodiac, it's a standard for most successful MMORPGs.

hampy 02-23-2007 12:38 AM

I would just be conerned that current items will drop in value and it would just in my opinion stop people wanting to keep rare items because they know that others will get them. Tig said new items to drop, that would work if it was only new items...

zell12 02-23-2007 12:51 AM

If there were active staff, bots wouldn't be hard to detect... :/

I think I'm just going to stop talking about GK, because the only true way to fix it, is delete the server, and start over.

HitmanJ2XX 03-04-2007 05:34 AM

Of course things would drop in value. Since nobody said exactly WHAT monsters drop WHICH rare items, any pro could get their speed up, and dash around doing 100+ dmg to shell bomys all day. Think if they slayed relentlessly. Values would drop to the abyss.
