What drove you away from Graal?

Well, we've all heard the things you like[d] about Graal, what attracted you to Graal. Let's hear some friendly, constructive criticism maybe?
What drove you away from Graal?
Let's all be nice, eh, and nothing rule-breaking. Let's all have a good time, and maybe learn something from this! It'll be a superb experience for us all, I hope.

smirt362 01-30-2007 07:27 AM

I lost interest...but now I'm back and working hard.

Devil 01-30-2007 07:57 AM

I was like 14 when I first started playing, that would have been why I started, then left because there are heaps better things to do in life.

Other little things that would have helped kick start that were, corrupt staff, lack of business sense on behalf of the administration, and I'm sure any other thing anyone else can come up with.

Ironic you would say that because thats what drove me away from graal in the first place, was a little event involving a group of friends on Babylon....

Recently its been the choices of staff who have more power these days.

Tyhm 01-30-2007 09:07 AM

The relative support of Graal's Baby (BM and Kingdoms respectively) vs its trusty old stepchild (Classic and BM respectively). I don't hold out much hope for Kingdoms now that 3D's The New Baby, and feel kinda bad for the guy who's inheriting it.

That and I needed to get a girlfriend and a life. And a real job.

zell12 01-30-2007 09:48 AM

Hmmm.... working at a real job... umm, most of the servers don't appeal to me at all... I spend my time playing a certain other rpg game...

Minoc 01-30-2007 10:22 AM

Classic's destruction.

Hawk 01-30-2007 10:39 AM

P2P, administration, Annoying kids.
Yet, i'm back.

ViperZakuto 01-30-2007 11:47 AM

few too many updates for gold server. once I played gk it made the other servers seem too blah. but what can you expect? Most of the people working for this game, never even receives a dime.

Graal.

Forum Administration is currently driving me away, but the lack of players doesnt help either

genius! :D

Spark910 01-30-2007 05:37 PM

No creative content update in like 3-5 years that attracted me.

Lack of originality.

No new official playerworlds on par with classic and 2001. GK never interested me. Zone is good though! But where is the next thing? I don't personally want 3D so will have to wait for the next thing. I fear it'll be 3D again.

kia345 01-30-2007 05:55 PM

delteria, but then it dragged me back =(

Huwajux 01-30-2007 06:34 PM

Zone got terribly boring after 3 years playing. Then I actually started playing other servers seriously!

I enjoy Zodiac a lot now, too. I still can't stop playing Zone though.

Everyone knows all the "girls" are guys anyways.

konidias 01-30-2007 09:49 PM

Nothing drove anyone here away from Graal. As we are still here reading and posting on the Graal forums.

Maybe some people don't play the game much (if at all) anymore. But they are still here and actively part of the Graal community. So I don't really think this question can actually be answered.

To the people actually giving answers... what are you on about? You haven't been driven away. You're still here.

I agree. Garden tools need to be supplied to every guy. How else are we supposed to make money?! Baking bread? Pffftt.

Hawk 01-30-2007 09:53 PM

Um, you're wrong.
I used to play this game a lot. Therefore, any reason I gave that drove me away from the actual game makes sense.
Just because I post on the forums doesn't make me currently active with Graal, it just means im waiting for Graal 2001 or for classic to be like it used to be. // One of the reasons that drove me away from Graal.

konidias 01-30-2007 09:54 PM

No pressure on me to make 2k1 fantastic or anything.... lol. :p

Hawk 01-30-2007 09:56 PM

Lots of pressure on my part. ^^

Infernix 01-30-2007 10:09 PM

Im still playing(Mostly developing) graal but if I was to say whats making me play it less is the fact that I just think there isn't any real game play in any of the servers. I just feels cheap.

pooper200000 01-30-2007 11:10 PM

One of the pictures in the someones profile. Yes it was female old female. no names :D

godofwarares 01-31-2007 12:43 AM

I used to be on every day, but now I am distracted because of my Java and C++ ability :P

Darlene159 01-31-2007 12:51 AM

Nothing drove me away from Graal, although I don't play as much because of some of the players.
Graal as a whole is a great game, and has many possabilities.

Forum Administration and the time-taking of my life. I sometimes would want to stay inside because Graal got my real lazy and I would never want to leave the house with anyone unless it was to go to my pool, but after I quit that's changed.. I don't play as much as I used to. In fact, I don't play at all, im just mostly on RC working on something 2 hours a day

Well, I mean to say, what lessened your interest in Graal? What made you not want to play it as much as you did before?

I’ve compiled a short list of what people have shared. A few people’s grievances are similar; that shows us something, yes?
-Forum Administration
-Loss of interest
-Little creative content update
-Little actual enjoyable game play
-Lack of “business sense”
-Actions of staff (corruptness, et cetera)
-Classic being seemingly abandoned
-P2P
-Bothersome players

Now, most of these things can be improved. Some of them would be nice to have (Graal being free again, completely ridding staff corruption), but aren’t especially realistic or actually attainable. Perhaps they won’t be changed “just like that”, but there’s always something that can be done to make everyone happy; not just the players, but the administrators as well. We, as the customers, can’t just say “We want this now!”, and just expect the admins to grit their teeth and say “Okay”. Likewise, it isn’t a good thing for the administrators to ignore the pleas of many of their players, and expect them to accept everything as it is, or “just get over it”. A community can’t work that way. We need to come to a sensible agreement on conflicts and issues; we need communication. This brings me to my next point.

I’ve noticed that there isn’t excellent communication between the players and the staff. This can be detrimental to the business of the game itself, especially on a smaller-scale game like Graal Online, where the players and the administrators are closer in a way.
Happy players means happy customers. If a customer is happy with a product, they will come back for more. Of course, if you want a happy customer, they need a reason to be such. They need incentive to come back and continue being a customer. And likewise, the more customers a company has, the more incentive they have to improve their item, therefore improving sales, too.

Taking these things to heart, I hope we can start to really communication with each other, and make things more enjoyable in all ways.
Let's alter the question of the thread a bit:
What drove you away from Graal, and how can those things be improved?

If you want to better things, looking at the positives and ignoring the negatives just won't work. We need to look at the situation from all angles. In the same way, we can't be purely negative and list of everything we hate about the game.

Devil 01-31-2007 05:48 AM

I'm posting here still out of habit konidias, I have been driven away from playing, that's what I meant.

Nah you were there.

Also 10+ points for Draenin, that was genious.

Devil 01-31-2007 05:56 AM

Yeah I'm trying to figure out if that had something to do with me.

p2p_Sir_Link 01-31-2007 05:56 AM

Classic

Unpredlctable 01-31-2007 06:05 AM

For me, too, the fact that Classic is given hardly any attention isn't great. Classic is what drew me to Graal and what had kept me playing.
A lot of people would love to see Classic back to what it used to be (and would surely return, as well): a thriving, fun environment. A simple, no-frills server. It would be wonderful to see Stefan showing some interest again to the once popular server. Or maybe he has something in the works for Classic. I don't know.
