Problem with our database computer
 

Our Database computer has rebooted yesterday and the login process was not restarted so it was not possible to login on wiki/forums/graal.net, I have restarted the process manually and made sure it will restart on next reboot.

I will probably have to transfer the databases on a new computer; will tell you more when I will make the maintenance.

Damn, now it finally works, I was logged out for 24 hours and it wouldn't let me onto the forums.

There was a reboot again, we will fix this as soon as possible.

It seems the database is down now, so login to Graal/website etc. will probably not work for a few hours. We are sorry for the down time.

Fix it soon, please. I'd like to continue scripting on UN dev soon.

If he's not at the data center, I doubt he would be able to do much of anything about it. Stefan does get on Graal at times at home, so it's possible that he's not at the data center. He may have to call unixmad or head over to the data center himself to restart the database or so. It could take some time.

He probably has to go there and do it himself, this is why it might be a few hours.

Do you want your penny now, or later? I understand it's a pain in the ass, especially since this is the weekend and people (such as myself and a few of my buddies) wanted to get on and play some Graal - but going on about gold time with something like this seems fairly pointless.

Yes, my two friends and I both departed one another's house to go to our own and play Graal (Zodiac) but find the server list is down and that the Graal Arguments no longer work - so we can't login without the server.

And on account of the bitter coldness outside there's nothing else for us to do now, so as I said - I understand.

graal needs to get these errors fixed dont they make a crap load of $ a yr from the members?

Well you don't still go to highschool do you? I have two nights which allow me to play into the wee hours without having to worry about homework, or studying for a test, or waking up early.

It's not Stefan's fault you have other priorities. I'm sure there are players that still go to high school and have homework but still "play into the wee hours" most nights. Chill.

No, however I am in my second and final year of a Graphics Design Diploma, and we're currently in mid-terms. As I said, I understand your frustration.

And I'm sure you notice that the majority of the players' IQs suffer from that.

I play/work into the wee hours of the morning and frequently skip class - I don't think it's affected my IQ too much. Perhaps my attendance mark, but not my IQ :)

Yeah, I try to log on to the Client and all I get is a black screen, is this normal for a Database restart?

I erm... dont feel like reading the whole topic..... so when can we expect it to be back up?

Most MMORPGs are sometimes down due to server matinence. When has Graal ever been down for 'matinence'? Pretty much never right? Things happen, think about how the servers are always up except in the rare instance that they crash sometimes. This is an MMORPG and stuff happens.

I don't think you can say pretty much never anymore, as this isn't the first time this black screen on login problem has happened.

The servers of the bigger MMORPGs are usually down one time a week. Dont complain about it x-x

Graal isn't like most other MMORPG's, so stop making the comparisons because they differ immensely.

Back :D It took some time because we wanted to make sure things work fine and don't crash again immediatelly, things are now running on new machines and we will try to improve things to make it not happen again.
