Just a random idea
Am I the only one that thinks that bases 2-5 should have an inner level? It would be fun to have a level where its a small passage way and you have to fight with people inside to get the base, I thought it would also be pretty cool if the bases had a top floor where you would have to stand to get the base, jetpack people can get there and grab the base but other people would have to go thru the inside of it.

thinkin about it...its a great idea but...to be honest, i dont think there'd be enough people on zone for it lol
ever since ive been playin, the highest players playing ive seen has been like....around 110 (had v4 and it added friends, so i subtracted about 8 friends of the list) second highest was 80, both of these have happened only once with the base:people ratio and, if, bases 2-5 were to get inner...itd be like a 2 vs 2 in iricia, takes WAY too long and people would constantly be getting bases i do LOVE the idea of inner bases but lets face it people...zone needs more players with the 4 other worlds, plus iricia, the max people of like 60 a day is spread around the worlds...so thats way lower then needed... if you people can make a banner for me, i promise more graal players, then this idea (zulu) would be amazing |

I remember when Zone was first re-released... 100+ players for about the first week and a half (400 Deaths to 300 kills too >.<). It was pretty fun... of course, this was all before the Iricia map changes (which I hate, by the way)... which also caused Base 2 to be the must-keep base for BOTH teams. It was the only base that was closer to Storm's HQ than sweep's... but enough of the past. Zone just has too few players nowadays. I'd like the idea more if there were more people.

I did a map of kind of how the inside of a base would look, its not too big nor too small if you ask me, and it has some hold off spots for defending the base and it also has two pasages to lessen the defensive power of the base a little.

i dont see the harm in putting it in like 2 bases....since then the people:base ratio would be a little controlled...plus, if its liked a lot...then we might be able to attract more people, then eventually add the underground bunkers to every base...
i suggest like....2 and 5, since they're closest to the headquarters or maybe....do a test run...maybe put it at like....base 3 or 4 only, and see how well controlled it is with the people...if its good, add another |

Underground tunnels from base-to-base would be neat.
Of course, add setshapes to walls so you can't shoot through them. |
Base insides could be abused for laming, since you can't shoot from outside to inside (yet). Using tunnels would be quite interesting, with some different sound effects for the bullets and such. There would be several entrances so that door laming wouldn't be that simple.
To prevent door laming it could also display a red spot on the position of the door if someone is waiting at the other side of the door. |
I already said bout the bunker crap its just gonna make more lamage and wth u mean.."(Yet)" shooting inside bases wud be so crazy rofl wonder how that script wud work. And its good anoth to know wen somones on the other side of the door wat i want to do is deal with them

Steffan isin't a GFX man (No offense) you should get somebody like Sayian to make you a banner, or hey, do it yourself, not really that hard.
Anyway I also have some questions about shooting outside to inside, would that really work? Theres a door in the way afterall. And also, if you use the call npc script, woulden't the bullet regain its height?, making it regain its range, for example, lets say that the kv9 can travel 5 cm before hitting the floor, if you shoot a Kv9 bullet standing directly in front of the door it would apear in the other level and would travel 5 cm before touching the floor and stopping, but if you shoot the kv9 4 cm from the door then when it apears in the other level would it travel 1 cm or 5 cm? |

the other bases should have warping ability or some other special quality.. right now they arnt used for anything besides winning (no function like b1's warp.) the red spot should be shown if any enemy is within proximity to the door (otherwise people could stay within firing range of the door but not be next to the door and therefore not cause the red dot to appear. btw stefan, a long time ago you were on and testing out nukes? perhaps one of the other bases could be used for this as its function? fired from heavyinfantry and\or defenders to a base of your choice with a several-second long warning (alarm noise to people in the area of the base being bombed) |

If its spacious then it woulden't be underground now would it? The point of an inside level is for close range combat with limited mobility and strategic hold off points.

A solution for underground tunnels:
Allow a maximum of say, 3 or even 1 from each time inside the tunnels from each base (e.g base 2-1, maximum of 3 people, 1-3 maximum of 5 people, wider tunnel). And implent my LoS idea in there, and make it very little light. And possibly even underground bases (has been suggested before). Actually, i've just thought of this: If underground is implented, the base standard area (that you stand on to capture it) is underground, and on top, are some of those machine gun things that are so rarely used. This means, the team that takes base 1, has speeders, a good defense, and a whole root network extending outwards to each base. Making the battle for base one even more hectic. And to eliminate laming, move the b1 teleporter halfway between the base 2-1 tunnel, in a semi-capturable area. What I mean by this is, if you stand on the teleporter for 5 seconds without moving, the teleporter becomes open to your team, and is announced. To take it, you kill all enemies near it (if there is any) and wait 5 seconds (reduced if more players are with you). Iricia underground would definatly need my LoS idea. Having full visibility in there with my 1600 x 1200 screen would make it pretty much unfair for everyone else, as i'd see them before they'd see me. What I also mean by LoS is that you can still see the terrain and objects, but not the players until they come within your LoS. |
couple things
1. what would making a limit in the bases do? i dont agree with having a limit. 2. i do like the machine gun idea 3. these underground routes, do they lead to each base? or is it just an underground (example) base 3 if it leads to every base, simply not enough people playing zone, but i do love the idea, cant deny that |

Raeiphon, you're trying to turn Zone into a FPS, without the FP, and I personaly love the idea, especialy in tunnels, what about if you have max LoS but only in the direction you're facing and some sight to the sides, I'll set up an example, hold on

i just think that tunnels are a waste of time i think they should expand the iricia map on the outside not in its getting too dam e z to find and hunt down every noob that walks the serfice now..no affense cor... :P j/k

I like the LoS idea... itd be good for the underground only so ppl can fight normally on outside and I like the idea of the chaotic elements this would create ... and I agree more players would be needed... could the LoS should be Conic in shape, like a flash light? limiting of ppl in tunnels would be worse, in my opinion, for Zones player numbers... so far ive mainly been agreeing with ppl... so... as Raeiphon said you should be able to see all background and objects, but maybe things outside of LoS are darker, kinda like a dusk backpal, and maybe if you hide behind, say, a barrel they couldnt see you? and, in my opinion, the machine guns are kinda hard to aim, so if the would to be used more easier to aim would be nice and as for the shooting from inside to out and vice-versa, I have an idea... make the zone buildings with insides taller so you can see some kind of hole or window to shoot into, visible from inside too, and door could open for a bit and ppl inside could see it open to move out of the way, im not sure about how window would alert ppl... maybe half of my gun would show up when i put it into the window, and thatd be hard for grenades... o well thats all for today |

Yep, hiding behind a barrel would now give you an advantage. Shooting from inside-out would ruin the game, as neither could really hurt each other. Unless: Inside b1, there is a pair of stairs that lead upwards on both the left and right enterence, that can only be entered by the holders of the base. These stairs take you to a 3 square room either side where you can shoot in 3 directions to your hearts content. You can also press A to duck while in here, which avoids damage. And my newest machine gun revamp idea: The new machine guns would look the same, but fire bullets instead of rockets. They would also have an overheat period. This period would take place after constant shooting for 6 seconds. The bullets shot do 1/2 of the damage of a normal chaingun. They move at a slightly faster speed, but they do not stun the enemy when they hit. The new machine guns would rotate alot quicker, and can rotate while you arent firing, and have a HP count which protects the user while firing/inside. Once that HP is destroyed, the user inside takes 1/3 of his total HP in damage, and is pushed back 8 tiles in a explosion. The machine gun overheat lasts for about 3 seconds, and while overheated, any shots fired lower the machine gun's HP for 5 and have a random chance to explode the machine gun unit itself. I also get what bbabba means: If you've ever played Star Wars: Battlefront II on the Hoth map, you'll know there's a tunnel extending from the snowspeeder hangar to the frontier base. That tunnel, when one base is under enemy control, is a HUGELY contested point. The side that dominates the tunnel, captures the hangar, and immeniently wins the game. I'm trying to add LoS to Zone so a situation like that would be possible, instead of having the ability to see everyone and everything. Ice tunnels in Iricia would be the under-base tunnels, and would have natural obstacles, such as frozen springs, which if stepped on, break, and plummet you in to cold water, making you lose 4 health per second until you get out. There would also be spots where you slide when walking, making sparring there a completely different game. (just an idea) Also a grenade revamp! Instead of grenades exploding instantly on contact, they would sit on the ground for 2 seconds, with a counter above their heads. When thrown, they would bounce off walls. So in tunnels, you could lob a grenade into a diagonal wall, and have it bounce into a tunnel where the enemy lies in wait, wiping them all out. Rar, my brain is tired D: |
