Need a little help from the community.
 

Hello Everyone,

Some of you may know me, I was the former NAT Admin on Unholy Nation and have helped out random Playerworlds whenever they needed something scripted, or fixed. I also frequent the #gscript IRC room.

I am now looking upon the Graal Community in an effort to create a playerworld different from others.

I have searched through the countless playerworlds looking at almost every one, and have not yet found one that uses the 'new' 3D-Terrain engine.

I have a basic overworld mapped out, and some of the basic scripting components in the works to create an RPG Server using this unexplored feature. The only problem is, I currently do not have enough money in my paypal account to pay for it and my bank account will not attach to my paypal account for some reason.

If there are any of you Graalians who are wanting to help show a little diversity in the playerworlds that Graal has to offer, and are willing to donate any amount of money to help get this server off the ground, it would be greatly appreciated.

As a donator you would, of course, get special benefits within the server. You will also be given RC to track the progress of it (as it will have the onlystaff=true option enabled.)

I have attached the map of the overworld that I have planned out, in hopes that it will spark some interest.

If you wish to donate, forward your money (any amount will be much appreciated) to '[email protected]' (without the quotes) and leave a small note explaining that this is what it is for. Also, send me a forum PM with your account name, the email address you used to donate with, and IP Address range, so that I can add you to RC and inform you when enough money is aquired, and the server is on it's way.

I'd think people would probably like to know a little more about your concept before donating their money.

Is this server going to be like Kingdoms, totally different, or what?

What will the gameplay be like?

Ah, sorry. Knew I was forgetting something in the post x_x

The server will be of the RPG variety. There will be different races/classes to choose form. It will not be like kingdoms/maloria in the aspect that what class you are doesn't matter. Only the mage class will be able to use magic, only the warrior class will be able to use swords, etc. The class system will be a tree-like structure, ie: You start off as an 'adventurer', then when you reach a certain level, you will be able to become an apprentice of the class you wish. After you gain another amount of levels, you will be able to advance in that class.
I am going to have multiple levels of advancement, so that levelling actually serves a purpose besides 'lol I'm higher level than you!'


The gameplay will feature a real-time battle system, like most graal servers. Parties will definitely be emphasised, by creating special quests that you must have a party with a certain amount of members to complete, and boss-monsters that will be impossible for a single person to kill.

If it is supposed to be amazing, why don't you ask stefan for a server ? x.x

They're not really all that great, I just have a basic heightmap done. Detailing and all that would have to be done by Levels staff I would hire.

I didn't say it was supposed to be amazing, I just said it would be a change in what people are used to seeing.

I have a clear vision of how I want things to be done, which is why I need my own server, where I can call the shots. I've been weighed down a lot in the past by other Management's tight hold on what I am allowed to do.

One thing im proud of, is our designs and and the best of all, the battle system design, down with hack and slash :)

But yeah, interesting.

I hope it works out for you. If you get enough money, stick with it! Most servers die because of lack of scripting, and your a scripter, so..

I intend to 'stick with it' if I recieve enough donations to pay for the server. As of right now, things are looking quite grim, haven't recieved anything at all (not even one cent) It looks like people don't want to contribute :(

Question: Do you have the time, and are you fully capable, of completing all or most of the scripting by yourself?

As in, are you not depending on anyone but yourself to complete the bulk of this project?

I am certainly capable of fulfilling the task at hand, and I do have the time. But I will probably hire a few more scripters to help me out, to speed things up.

It's not really the scripters that I need badly though, I would probably need a Graphics Team, and Gani artists more.

Show me some progress besides a map concept, and the workings of a bit of a development team, and maybe I can help out a bit.

Okie, if I donate some money, I would all RC rights and I could actually work there? I've been experimenting with the terrain gen and I think I might be able to help cement your idea.

Update: I am no longer in need of donations. A friend named 'Cubes' has agreed to let me use his server for this project :)

I will be hiring Staff very shortly, I just want to make sure I get a basic file/rules/rights structure before I do so. (If you are interrested in working on the server, send me a PM explaining what you can do, and example of your work)
