It's bound to happen, though. Same with SoJs in D2. It'll probably always be that way.

The way the price of them just keeps rising you'd be forgiven for thinking so.

"Keeps rising"? It's been at 500 for around two years now.

I don't think diamonds, gold keys, EC's, nor EA's will continue to rise in price any more. Maybe EA's will go down a bit, but little else will change.

They were starting to go at 600 plat often last time I checked.

It only went up to 500 because the value of diamonds went up and the value of platinum coins went down at the same time.

I had 700+ On me at one point. This was at the time when Dias were generally accepted as 300 plat.

I started with 10,000 plat. I bought as many diamonds as I could for 300. I sold them all for 500 to poor fools who were in a rush to buy diamonds. Then I just kept doing the same, and I ended up with 700+.

Even I have had more than that many diamonds. x_x

5 months ago when i still played, before the inflation, diamonds were 300 plat then they rose to 500 plat and brutals went to 5k-10k and thats when i quit. They havnt been 500 for 2 years googi

Uh, Diamonds have been at 500 for way longer than five months. Maybe a year and five months.

It started to happen right after alchemy was released.

Alchemy was released in like what? February? March? Its been a while but I know it hasnt been a year.

ok googie, Alchemy has been out since about March, so it has only been out for about 6-7 months, That is When I left and I have never seen a diamond go for over 300 plat until I came back last month. Except for when Rance did the alch money thing and made like 250k plat but he was the only person who would pay that price. I used to stand in bomb trade at least 5 hours a day just about everyday, I bought so many diamonds for 300 plat it was uncanny. That is far from 2 years...

Diamonds were 500 plat mid 2003, and have stayed that way to present time.

The only time they were 300 was around christmas of 2002.

Earlier than that, on 2k2 beta, no one knew what diamonds were used for other than the diamond blade.

People also used to fight spiders in a hole.

Oh, and, get this...The newbie island now, used to be the ONLY island.
The spider icon on the minimap is where you went to fight the spiders.

Diamonds have been 500 for alooong time. It's the Bruts that went from 1k to 3k to 5k to 10k. I remember when we used to buy lvl 1 maps for 10, 2s for 100, 3s for 150, 4s for 250 and immenses for 500.. wee, those were the days.

Oh and MarkB's old house had over 20k IWD/Dias/EA, so many you couldn't pick up :P

You found someone who would pay a dollar per dia? That's pretty good seeing as RoW only USDs for about $50 nowadays.

I don't think EAs ever surpassed Dias. Especially for high-cost items. A switchback could never work since it's now far cheaper and easier, except in a few very rare cases (new limited event items like Cowboy Hat) to just buy the item already at +12 instead of buying the EAs and get someone to EA it for you.

Back when Tec could first do +6 and stuff, EA's were in high-demand, so almost everyone wanted them because alchemy had not yet been fixed and mad-amounts of plat couldn't be gotten easily (except for a few bugs that were around for ~a day).

It was usually 100 dias for 10$, I think Brads bsing :P
