Graal v4?
 

I was told it was released. If it is, how do I download it? I think i was lied to.

It's only released to selected testers. I heard it may be released (probably to VIPs first) soon however.

Well I heard that, but I don't know how true it is. Soon could mean different things to different people. To someone it may mean a week or 2, but to Stefan it could mean several months.

It has been ready for a few days, it just needs a new setup.exe to support it, which too is near completion.

Oh. Cool. I can't wait to see the global playerlist. Is the playerlist a separate window (Like v2.31) or is it like Graal3? (If it's like Graal3 I think there should be an option to change it.)

This is what I heard: Graalv4 will be released today (23Aug2005) to VIP members only.

It is planned to be VIP only, although that could all change.

I don't think it is enough to make me want to buy a vip account. Many people have had problems with graalv3 and I would not want to pay for a program that might not work on my computer.

I'm pretty sure Graal3 was released before it was finished. Graal4 should have way less bugs than Graal3. Since I'm VIP, I get to see it today (I hope) :D.

Actually, Graal4 was written in the same language as Graal2, and has the same interface. Graal4 is a merge between the technical side of v3 and the visual side of v2, from what I understand, although I've been wrong before.

Yup, I was wrong. That's the correct information, straight from Chee. :D

It will have WAY more less bugs. There has been so much testing on this version. I don't believe v3 got anywhere near this amount of attention.

I think I've seen that somewhere else on the forums. Does anyone have a screenshot of Graal4? I'm dying to see it.

There was no garunteed set date of yesterday, or today as it currently stands. Just because Malinko said something in one thread doesn't make it true. I couldn't get a stright answer out of masterstorm, ibonic, or even stefan himself >.>; Just wait, you'll know when v4 comes out.. It will be a big deal

My understanding: On 23 August, they tested the setup.exe for Graal v4. However, there was a big with the setup executible, but it was late at night where Stefan lives, so Stefan decided to push off the final coding and release of the exe to the next day.

On another note, anyone else angry at Malinko for spreading false information on the release of Graal v4?

I said to some staff that the version might be released on the next. We have taken more time to fix the problems though, and we are also preparing news postings for this. If everything goes fine we will release tomorrow, Thirsday, to VIP.

There's no reason to be mad at Malinko. That was an estimated release date. It'll be out soon. We can wait another day or two.

I'd say Graal4 is definitely worth it. Innumerable bugs from v3 were fixed. It takes 3 posts just to show how much has been fixed:

It's been tested for months by over 50 people. It's very stable.

In addition to all the major bugfixes, the playerlist can go outside of the Graal window again. The playerlist being stuck inside the window was one of the big things that turned tons of people away from v3, and now it's fixed.

Graal4 is faster than Graal2, and maybe even faster than Graal3 (definitely faster when starting up). It looks better, too.

Since the things that turned people away from Graal3 have changed, it opens a ton of new opportunities with the new scripting engine. With Graal4, GS2 scripts can be written clientside (think more complicated GUIs, etc).

Besides all the stuff that's been made better, there are a bunch of major new features that I know people will like :) All the testers that I know of use Graal4 as their normal client and have left Graal2 in the dust. I'd say it is definitely worth upgrading. I re-upgraded today, in fact.
