Elemental Kingdoms: EXP system: Explained

Many people have asked me " why have exp if ytou cannot level up", Even after having posted the explanation in the server message, i geuss this should be read more.

It works like this:

Every time you kill a monster (And maybe soon, players) you will get exp, just like mst rpg type servers. there is another variable called power, which isnt implemented yet, and is not a level. The exp works like this; All weapons have a dc, or difficulty class, to use. Currently there is no way to figure that out except trying, but ill fix that soon too. Basically, Your exp+10 and the dc both have a random number chosen between 0 and them, and then if your number is higher, you successfully implement the weapon.

Most early weapons like the normal sword and earth shot hardly ever faiul, even with 0 exp, so that even ****s have something other than their fists to fight with. The higher you get your experience, the better a chance you have of using a weapon correctly.

There WILL be a small area with level ups, but it wont be related with the main part of the server, sort of like another planet on arkland empires.

I have heard both good and bad comments pertaining to this custom experience system, and No, I am not changing to a level up system, i want a totally custome system, unlike any other server. Feel free to comment by replying to this...

I think you should make your system have more depth.

What do you mean?

haro41 08-02-2004 09:10 PM

well if i understand your system right. your system only has exp for weapons. what about the stats of the player?

Crono 08-02-2004 09:57 PM

Also look into skills depending on exp. I mean real skills, not "supr doubl atck w/ nyfe"

haro41 08-02-2004 10:00 PM

double knife attack! great idea! write that down falco.

falco10291029 08-02-2004 10:03 PM

lol it doesnrt give wepen xp u get the experience but your wepons all share it and depend on that to fire correclty. SO far there are 2 skills only thieves can use: backstab and Mass murder. Also experience will be needed in certain tasks once we go public ull see like there will be peopel ul ltalk to if ur too low theyll be like : Pfft Wimp dont bug me but if ur exp is high enough they will giv eu the task

Falco, typing a fast reply doesn't mean you have to type it so badly. >_<

Mass murder? What does that do? It sounds like it would be annoying. Also, I don't think having an npc saying "don't bug me, your EXP isn't high enough", sounds very realistic. You have to be able to immerse the player into the world, not isolate them from it. The last thing they should be thinking about is "leveling up" their experience. If the npc just said "you're too weak", it would be a lot better, and save everyone the trouble of reading something longer that takes away from the realism.

Mass murser sends a wave out that kill anyone in the path but takes a hearts away from the person who used it and has a dc in the thousands.
And the npc wont say that your exp is too low it would call you a wimp and wuld not mention ur exp, i never sed it would. Also i type badly cus i hunt and peck really fast and dont bothe rto check my work before presing submit.

It wouldn't really take up too much time to slow down your typing and use correct spelling/grammar. I don't complain much about this stuff since its the internet and all, but I can barely translate the message you're trying to portray to us about your server. Take this as a suggestion moreso than an insult, please.

You can only level up your ability to use weapons, but not your characters stats such as hit points and mana [magic] points?

falco10291029 08-03-2004 03:19 AM

Well i use basic hitpoint system, though its a custom damage system, cus i feel it is easier. Mana starts at 100 and stays there, i use the basic mana system. Hp i am planning on making to start at 15 and you can get to 20 by doing quests and such like on a classic pk server. We are actually a mix of rpg with a little bit of classic pk servr mixed in

haro41 08-03-2004 03:41 AM

lol!!!! MASS MURDER ATTACK!!!

a little inappropriate.. and strange.
how about something like Delta Wave, or something.

falco10291029 08-03-2004 04:26 AM

its called mass murder for a reason: Its a thief skillm, they wouldnt have things with cool names like that lol

falco10291029 08-03-2004 07:20 PM

Sorry to double post but this has nothing to do with my last comment: We have just added a custom hp system becaus playerhearts is way too buggy

Seams more like a terrorist skill.

falco10291029 08-04-2004 02:50 AM

theres no terrorist class, or you'd be right actually

Scott 08-04-2004 03:39 AM

When you use the attack perhaps it would make the player say "FOR ALLAH!"

And give him a turban. :whatever:

Crono 08-04-2004 02:40 PM

Wouldn't that be a muslim terrorist? A terrorist is a person who terrorizes, unless you're looking at the american government's terrorist catigorization(cant spell worth shizzle)

falco10291029 08-04-2004 10:31 PM
