Graal: Rebirth Update
 

Here is some of the progress that maverick and I have made. We are still looking for 2 individuals one to make a website and one to script various things, also perhaps a third person to do music.

It's looking pretty nice, so far, but one thing I noticed was that the characters feet are absolutely huge.
I'm sure the design is still being worked on, but I just thought it looked a bit odd seeing as his shoe/foot was thicker than his leg and nearly as tall as his thigh.
Otherwise, I like it, especially the character, he is rather proportionate for a Graal character, which I like.

Same here though, not a fan of the name. Maybe that can be a project-name while you are working on it? I can't really think of a good storyline that it would fit into.

Well the name actually fits the project part but its not a decent name for a game. So once its released we will find a more suitable one. But the project name is sort of like a symbol this server is basicly classic and bomy moon reborn with fresh new story line and deep plot.

Bomy moon reborn? Me = interested.

in order for graal to be reborn it first has to die. and i think it dieng is not a mutual opinion

Well when I say reborn I am not trying to suggest anything about graal being dead or dying more like graal re created into a more enjoyable game while keeping the same elements that makes graal what it is. The way I see it graal is a good concept but has little to no depth now im not trying to make a very complex server ethier I think there can be a healthy balance that has yet to be achived by any server I know of ethier existing or in development... and brad I will drop you an instant message.

Sorry this is a bit late, but I was away. Yes, I realize Graal: Rebirth is probably one of the corniest names ever, BUT for development purposes, I would rather call our server something with significance, than Dragcalldradongadonia or something stupid of that nature. And though some of you argue that Graal hasn't died so it cannot be reborn, open your eyes. The PW's in Graal have been using the same format for the last 4 or 5 years, the same tileset, the same bodies. There is no reason at all, why the top PW should be a server that is based upon the same ones that all the rest are, so in my opinion, Graal died for me a long time ago. This really is a Rebirth, we are not trying to rethink the entire Graal system, as you can see, our tileset is like that of the old one, except much more detailed and colorful. Imagine the original Classic server, when it was the only server, made bigger, better, and much prettier while keeping the same simple elements that made it great. This is our creed, and we shall stick to it, and you will see a server, that is unlike that you have ever seen yet feels very familar at the same time.

Then wouldn't be following the same format as well? All servers online besides Val, Era, and Maloria follow the "classic" format..on varying levels of "good".

No, you see, they use the same format, we are upgrading the format. The format is what a bunch of servers use, and while I guess in a way, we are using it, we are taking it to the next level that it should have been taken to a long time ago.

Please specify the upgrades you are making to this said format. Just saying "OMG IST BETTAR" isn't going to cut it. Not trying to cut you down or anything, but you're being super-supportive of the greatness of this project instead of accurately protraying your objectives. I fear you may end up overhyping it.

Well some elements will not be discussed you will have to wait and see. But for the things as to general enhancements here is the folowing:

4 races to choose from- each with thier own unique enviornment style, and playablity, each race will be different from the way they talk down to their clothes and architecture.

All new story line that will draw you in and a quest journal so you are not left in the dark. over 25 different major quests and 50 passive quests.

A new real time combat system with different attacks and strategys.

Dozens of monsters that use different attacks and have an advanced AI that you will have to try hard to outsmart.

all this will tie into graal it will be a new expearience to oldbies though it wont be totaly new as things people places from classic and bomy moon will be intergrated into the stroy.

My question to you is, how do you make a server with a nice server, quests related to the server when this is an mmorpg? Most quests nowadays are meant for 1 person only...>_>

Why would we post everything about our server? To give all details and everything away would make it lose alot of it's luster. I'm not overhyping this, I've simply been stating the details that 85% of all the playerworlds have sucked. Also, I think the graphics so far have already proven this is not your average playerworld.

Oh and @ Gerami,

There are lots of ways, just look at how 2k1 did it, trust me, if you think hard enough there are ways to involve mass amounts of people.

I sure hope you make quests all about teamwork. Maybe make a "party" that you "beat" the server with? If you stay with them, you get better stuff rather than questing with a horde of new people.

it will tie into the part about 4 races I didn't just have races to say omg look at me im a _____ . You will need a person from each race to help you on quests - split up the loot or betray one another be careful who you trust...

So quests will be a copy of 2k1?
Isn't it better to ake own ideas?

the day tony quit metropolis i cried..hah..but seriously..i loved metro and i think it would have been a better than what he is currently working on
