All languages are easy to learn after learning one. There's only slight differences in syntax.

JungleKid 06-22-2001 04:16 AM

oh, and in case you were thinking of scripting a game in Delphi, I hear that programs for it are very expensive.

Bane2000 06-22-2001 04:24 AM

hehe i';d buy them if I felt it was a good cause ^_^

NightLord 06-22-2001 07:21 AM

I have Visual Studio 6 (VB 6, VC++, etc) and Delphi Enterprise Edition y0.

Admins 06-22-2001 07:28 AM

Graal is made in Delphi 4 Standard version,
3 years ago it was 70$ so it shouldn't be
too expensive :-)
The good thing is that making windows, buttons
etc. is very simple, so in that way it is similar to
visual basic. But the program is much faster
(almost as fast as C++) and it compiles the whole
Graal in less than 3 seconds, good for testing :-)

It's probably a good thing to start, you will
also find many components for Delphi on the
web (components - things you can put onto
windows like buttons or a DirectX control).

If you are a hardcore-programmer you might
need to switch, because Microsoft always releases
stuff for C++ first, also most source code for Linux
is C++, and if you want to make games for consoles
there are almost only C/C++ compilers.

Is Delphi hard to learn for people new at scripting?

Birdbird_0 06-22-2001 07:30 AM

Make the Level editor A seprite program, and make it so you can walk underbriges and walk ontop to with your mad C++ szilzs, Er1c said to say that

bb2k1 06-22-2001 07:31 AM

I wish Graal was on Dreamcast. :(

Dreamcast is a VERY EASY console to program for.
Plus it supports Cable and most of them come with 56k modems (Some don't like in Japan).
Plus it'd be easy to release new versions on the Dreamcast.
Just put the program in Discjuggler format and burn it.

Admins 06-22-2001 07:39 AM

Yes that would be fun,
actually console would be perfect for
Graal, just turn it on and play

TCNDAN 06-22-2001 07:39 AM

So Stefan, when to you start work on Jinn's Super Knock Out?

Immediatly? ok!

Exactly! I could help you out Stefan, by getting you the tools
to work with. I also play NES and SNES on my Dreamcast. :D

Birdbird_0 06-22-2001 07:41 AM

Stefan Stefan, I need help, Can I talk to you on some form of Instant message thing?

General 06-22-2001 07:43 AM

Dreamcast is perfect console for graal...too bad its' dead
BUT HEY THAT MEAN THEY GIVE NO **** IF YOU CODE FOR IT!

LordAzeroth 06-22-2001 07:45 AM

It's dead, yeah. :(
But like a PC it's easy to program for, so even when it's dead games and programs will come out for it.
Dreamcast can run linux, play Linux Doom, run a webserver etc. Impressive machine! It has even graphics compared to PS2 haha.
