Shifting Ages - Dead or Alive?

3 Attachment(s)
It turns out Shifting ages was never really dead. I have known this for a while but I decided not to tell this to the public.

Here is a quote from Soul Blade, I'm also posting some screenshots. I've talked to him, and it's alright for me to post these.

"Many people have thought that Shifting Ages died.

They are all wrong.

This entire time I decided to work in secret, and begin with a far more sophisticated and planned approach. Shifting Ages will not be like other playerworlds thrown at you, going into a world of nonsense and discord. Shifting Ages will be an organized and meaningful world that makes sense, where it's roots are explained and there is an actual universal history involved. That is where the screenshot I show you today comes into play.

What will be released very shortly is an introduction to Shifting Ages. It tells the history and explains why things are the way they will be in Shifting Ages. This is not at all a representation of what Shifting Ages gameplay will actually be like for the most part, but it could be looked at in the view of quality. For example, the graphical quality displayed in this game will be equal to or surpassed by the real Shifting Ages.

As far as details on gameplay of what I will soon release I will not give. The screenshots should explain many things and most certainly give a few hints on the gameplay. I will release soon so wait until then.

Sorry for deceiving everyone about the state of Shifting Ages, but it was a needed factor for efficient developement. Thank you for your understanding.

Please leave comments and constructive criticism.

Thank you,

-Soul Blade"

The graphics are nice. A lot better than that other stuff he was making.
I just hope he doesn't abandon this on like the others. I think this one will be a real big hit too. :)

Spark910 05-19-2004 01:18 AM

:O
Interesting idea it has to be said, maybe (if not already) being able to land on planets and get out and walk around or so would be good, but very nice :O

Kronan 05-19-2004 01:37 AM

It's like Earth and Beyond xD!

Nick1988 05-19-2004 02:58 AM

Looks nice. I liked the old Shifting Ages better though, it had a much more lucious feeling to it in my opinion.

The graphics are not stolen, I'm sure of it.

I won't say that they are stolen, but they look familar. The things that come to mind are Ghost Pirate and Graal2230.

Curt1zzle 05-19-2004 06:30 AM

Personally, I think you thought a bit too far outside of the box for this one....I mean , erm... Just not meant for graal :/

D1ce2 05-19-2004 08:41 AM

Looking good. I prefer old SA though, A RP twist looked better...

WanDaMan 05-19-2004 09:17 AM

Mabey you could use that version and the older version, i.e like spark said about landing on planets?
we don't want it to be collesiuum do we?

superb 05-19-2004 10:18 AM

Dude, just wait till you've played it. It is really fun. :)

He did so, so please don't be so attacking.
And I agree, possibly, that its good from what it looks like but if it was just that I doubt it would work, and I also agree with the other person who prefered the old one, as that are more of a Playerworld as we know it, but still we don't know much about this, and haven't tried it so it could work.

HoudiniMan 05-19-2004 05:21 PM

Were these screenshots taken in graal or some other game?

Kronan - Nothing like Earth and Beyond. lol

I think we have enough medieval RPGs as it is, new genres are needed

looks neat, but leaves alot of questions about gameplay, nonetheless it is interesting and I guess I'll just sit back and wait for more details to come out....

3d environment??? (couldn't help but ask one question)

Not really. You've got Era and plenty of other servers with guns, so why not take things a little farther and go with spaceships? ;)

By the way, as Soul-Blade said, this is just an introduction being released to the game, so there is much much more to come.

Thank you for actually reading what he said :D.

GoZelda 05-19-2004 09:27 PM

Looks pretty nice, and although I'm a bit dissapointed that the 'old' Shifting Ages will be abandoned, I already see great possibilities with this type of game: imagine Quests, different spaceships, meteor storms, aliens, nations and hopefully the possibility of landing on a planet will be added.

I somewhat agree with that....but oh well. Your choice man....LOOKS GOOD

Mykel 05-20-2004 04:34 AM

Looks awesome Soul-Blade. Keep up the good work. The possibilities are endless.

Spark910 05-20-2004 11:14 AM

For those saying about Graal2230... well thats dead, so if someone can do something similar or like it to amuse the players I don't see much problem.

Every space shooter is similar, but its not stole so no need to link to that.
Look at the graphical differences, they aren't the same at all.

Admins 05-20-2004 11:36 AM

Looks good SoulBlade :)

-Albus 05-20-2004 01:33 PM

To you people thinking that this idea was stolen and the graphics were ripped, please do shut up, you have no idea what you are talking about. Just because there are other games with a space setting out there, doesn't mean that this was ripped from that. And the graphics are completely original as well.

Myomoto 05-20-2004 01:52 PM

Looks neat, but the spaceships looks like they are made of plastic or something :(

WanDaMan 05-20-2004 01:55 PM

zone?
isn't that spacey crap?

They are in Graal. I'm the other player in the screenshots.

It's really nifty and my music fits it well.

Darlene159 05-20-2004 07:31 PM

Looks interesting, good luck

zokemon 05-20-2004 07:46 PM

Me like.
(Insert more words...?)

MarkB 05-20-2004 11:29 PM

Looks nice :)

zs0 05-21-2004 01:39 AM

Can't wait! I liked the older version though.. :o

SSJ2_Gogeta 05-21-2004 01:51 AM

I like this version. Looks like SoulBlade is pushing the current graal engine to its limits.
Like someone else said, maybe he's keeping the old SA for the planets when you land on them or something like that.

Brad 05-21-2004 04:03 AM

Hi Soul Blade

kabouter 05-22-2004 03:36 PM

awsome, keep up the good work

for the ships or anything else.. you should probably use a 3d modeler program, that would be pretty nice.. how many directions are you going to have? i sure hope that there are AT LEAST 8.

WanDaMan 05-23-2004 10:14 PM

You could do it with 4 like graal :o
I'd prefer 16 for awesomeness though.

davidpsy 05-24-2004 03:27 PM

Ahh foolish wan, Soul Blade perfers 100 directions ;).
