Account post transfers

I'd like to get this cleared up.

Lots of people are getting posts transferred from old accounts to their new ones. Is this, or is this not allowed? If it is, why are some people getting denied the opportunity?

I don't know. Maybe they just aren't cool enough?

or it could be the fact they are asking the wrong people...

Geno 03-23-2004 07:14 AM

alot of people :o?
actully almost NO people get this spoil...but i must admit some do *grin*
well if you care to notice some rules tend to be kinda "dictator-ish"
so i suppose the admin's here can deny and confirm whatever they please.

yeah i don't like it, but what can you do :0

It's relative, but I've seen a good deal of people get posts transferred.
While I don't want this myself, I am still curious as to how those in power feel about it.

Not galen. Ask the new "awsome" super mods.

Riot 03-23-2004 03:07 PM

Why would "mods" be able to edit your accounts?

You'd need a forum admin.

You see, think first. We don't have the rights to, so don't mock us in that way.

WanDaMan 03-23-2004 03:13 PM

Spar hardley has no rights.

Hrmm Yeah it's a good point, but do post counts really matter?

AlkarenHyralt 03-23-2004 10:01 PM

Yay for helping crash the forums!

Damix2 03-23-2004 10:04 PM

I asked galen, he did it for me

Hehe they're so blind.. :(

Sparkplug 03-24-2004 03:15 AM

I never got my uber 1000+ posts transfered, but there is really no need to.

haunter 03-24-2004 03:55 AM

I wonder if there'd be a way to automate it...

to transfer posts, you goto the window, put in your username / password for the sender, then the reciever, then apply...

Then put a time cap on how often you can transfer / recieve posts.

This might be abused though... like people giving their posts to friends, or even selling their posts. ;\

I'll sell 500 posts for a 1:10 ratio of posts to gralats!

*remembers old Graal2001 for some reason*

galen 03-24-2004 08:41 AM

I can preform post transfers. There are *only* 2 ways I can verify the accounts you want the posts transfered from are yours.

A) PM me from each account stating you want them transfered

B) give me the email addresses used to register the accounts

Why do they even care about post counts? Just post it again, it isn't that hard.

Eh I'm not trying to insult him at all, But his statement made no logical sense, The 0.1 second query to the database would not affect anything at all, If it did MySQL would be very impractical.

Thanks

"How does modifying one row in one table crash a database?" was what you inquired (probably in a sarcastic tone but meh)

Talk to me sometime, I'll show you plenty of ways that can crash a database =p

Welcome

Not with one single less than 1kb normally executed statement you wont, I know plently of ways to crash a database, But not in the way he was talking about, I'm pretty sure I know MySQL/PHP pretty well :). Yes the way I parsed my point was rather grammatically incorrect

Thanks

The statement of you losing faith in his knowledge was unneccessary. You didn't like a pointless insult as much as he did. Try being conciderate please =)

Welcome

It is not an insult rather her opinion and she has every right to her opinion as anyone else does, does she not? Her opinion is subjective to what he exhibits and if he makes a statement that is not accurate then it tends to make someone doubt their ablity in that area. It is not an insult to his intelligence but rather an area he may need to brush up on not that he knows nothing about it. People have every right to feel what they feel and Jess is no exception to that nor is anyone else. You could I suppose take it as an insult but rather take it as it is something he may need to work on. We all have things we need to work on.
