Planning for Week starting 10 November
We have decided to keep you informed on our progresses and planning’s, so here is our calendar of release for the forthcoming week, starting this week I will try to keep you informed each Monday on the planning for the Week.
Week starting 10 November -------------------------------- 1) Graal.net We are in the process to release a new version of Graal.net with lots of stats (PlayerWorlds, Player Online stats and soon Scores based on data coming from each PlayerWorld). We are also adding CVS to graal.net so PlayerWorld teams will be able to share files and also track modifications, we also plan to integrate CVS to the remote control. Some documentations will be available from the main page. 2) Graalonline.com & graal.net We will release a “identity card” for each player with all the public data available in our files, each player will be able to switch this data from public to private… 3) Graal Servers and Network: We will move some servers to a new datacenter, this will improve quality of bandwidth for European and Asian players. 4) Graal 3D We are finishing the new lighting code for Graal3D, it was a major problem before because the lighting was static and it was not allowing dynamic objects in the world. We will also publish this week some screenshots of 3D building for Graal Kindoms 3D tech. Demo (more information will come) Planned work for week starting 17 November ----------------------------------------------------- 1) Graal.net We will release internal. Admin tools, mostly for Spark911 team, so he will be able to switch PlayerWorld’s from group to group (Visible, Invisible, Top 3 …) 2) Graalonline Site We will restore the file submitter tools, it will allow you to submit Head/Shield/body like before, but I hope it will be used by PlayerWorlds for other tasks. 3) Graal 3d We will publish information about what we plan to release for Christmas / New Year release. |

Yes we will release new admin tools to manage validation of graphics.

How about a full time team of Global Admins?
|
What do you mean by Full time team ?

The CVS integration sounds extremely interesting, though I haven't heard too much about it yet. Anything that makes Graal development more robust is good news to me :)
As for the GGT, I don't think they need to be any bigger. Spotting copyrighted graphics can be done regardless of official membership in a team, and we only need a few people to enforce the removal of those graphics. |
It would be great if the GGT (maybe even just Zen and/or myself) could manage the global uploads and such considering alot of illegal material has slipped through in the past and are still there up to this day ;x
|
I am really looking forward to Graal 3D, any idea of when it might be released? a year or so?

What I mean is a team of Admins that are actuall here when you need them and can help you with the things you need help with.
I just don't want to talk to spark, and then he talks to Lyndzey about it, then she asks Unixmad. It would be nice if the admins had the rights to do what constantly ask for. |
Good luck, i hope everything will be ok unix. ;)

Will there be new ways for using control panel fo servers purchased at graal.net? |
It would be cool if unixmad and Stefan both made "disguise" accounts and for one day hung out with the community. -shrugs- would be interesting in my opinion.

I've been estactic for G3D myself since I learned it was still being done, should be great. |
About Guild CP: Yeah okay its annoying. But its been buggy and full of errors since the start and down for ages, so an extra month or two wont hurt that much. So let them get all of the other projects done, then all of someones time is put into the GuildCP to add new features and get a nice working system up.

#2. This december, it would have been a year since the last time it was fully operational #3. We don't need new features, we just want the ones that we had to all work! All we (we, as in guild leaders) as for, is the ability to add/delete and demote/promote members, and maybe a forum... besides that, any other features is just iceing on the cake. True, I like iceing, but we need to finnish making the cake before we add more iceing :P (sorry if my random analogy seems strange) oh yea, and some others would like to make their own guild... though I'm not familiar with that situation, since I already have my own guild :P |
I hope the gfx have improved from the last screens of graal 3d the textures were off and the meshes where just ugly. I don't know about the playerworld majotity but I would presonaly like to see a mix between fable style gfx and lotr: the fellowship of the rings gfx.

Pretty much because the screen shot browser is very buggy. So I was going by all those viking oriented screenshots they had shown earlier. Also I didn't know there was anything new I have been gone for a while so I'll take a look now..
Edit: no changes that I see still the same old horrid looking graphics. |

yeah I didn't like the "new" graal3d screenshots either.
|
yeah sorry to whoever made the graphics but I mean come on this is graal I wasnt excpecting vikings and realistic graphics I was thinking a little more cartoonish...but what ever floats unixmads boat..

And the graphics could be better, but then we'd all need super PCs to run them. Graal doesn't want to exclude large portions of its userbase. |
I will see. I do think it could be accomplished just change the character meshes to more short and fat characters and add some detail. I don't think that would take that much more memory and the files don't really have to be bigger I just don't like the tall skinny realistic stuff hmm maybe im not making sense ... well perhaps something like this. Grant it he's a hobbit but I kind of always thought of the graal characters of at least having body proportions near a hobbit.Oh another thing i just though of maybe they could include a low res, medium res, and high res settings.Thats how shadow bane stays in buisness :D .
|
The characters definitely should be chibi (smaller variaton) size. If they aren't somewhat cartoony and short and stuff, it just won't feel like Graal at all. That is what attracts me to Graal, that is why I'm not playing those other MMORPGs. If Graal3D looks just like those games, I won't play Graal3D either.
That's not a threat or anything, that's just my opinion. There has never really been a cartoon like MMORPG in a 3D perspective (well not like a Graal type... there was that disney thing that seemed rather popular). I wanted to make one myself but don't have that kind of programming knowledge yet. I'll be disappointed if you guys pass up the opportunity to hit this market first. |

I'd prefer if it were more friendly and cell shaded looking similar to Zelda on GC XD
|
Quote:
It wouldnt be the first time this company has ripped off Zelda, I mean, Graal wouldn't exsist without Zelda. Actually that makes sense, Graal started off by copying Zelda, why not copy Zelda again in it's evolution to the thir dimension :P |
You are aware cell shading was invented way before Zelda for GC and the style I believe has no co copyright (can it even be copyright? ;x.) I don't see how it's copying Zelda in anyway really >_> I just think cell shading would suit Graal more.
