Gileada Preview
You heard right. Connect to Gileada, and enter the stairs
thingy that says Preview. :( Im too lazy to see what it really says. Anyway, it will show you a preview of what the world of Gileada will be like, and the boat system and stuff. This is our "developement" level, which means as soon as I finish more parts of tile, I will add it to the level. Then Zero will add the blockage and non-blockage scripts to the tiles so we can walk on the new tiles and stuff. Anyway, Please come check it out sometime. Never before attempted on Graal but I think we pulled it off nicely..... Blimp View. Oh yeah, before I forget, once you get in it will put you on a little dirt tile. When on the right dirt tile in that area, it will say the name of the Waiting House in the top left corner of the screen. Press A while on this dirt tile to go back to the waiting house. post what you think here (event though I probably wont change it unless it is major) to give us an idea of what people think of it. Plus I finished new tiles and added them to the level, if you want to see them you should go check it out. :( Thanks |

Ok here goes,
I went as a player and ex- Manager at the request of Oinkness to check out what was being done. The start is somewhat long picking your Stats and so on but its not too long. I would though improve some of the directions on what you need to do, it is not too clear but you can figure it out. Once thru that you get to the start level which is nice, keep in mind this PW is under heavy construction so don't expect too much. The GUI has nice GFX but I would improve the Q menu somewhat with better GFX. I also would make it so you can completely remove the Stats from the screen if the players desires to do this, it is somewhat large so I forsee many may not want them viewable at all times. Moving along we get to the only entrance you can go thru which involves the overworld, upon entering you get a birds eyes view of the overworld via the map. It is a unique and interesting way this is done. You can move along the places on the map with a head (which btw you have 3 options to change to another head). I found it interesting that you can get on a boat and move around to different places. Although this is nothing earth shattering it is unique for the fact this has not been done in this manner before so my hats off to you guys for doing something that has not been done before. Basicly thats it but they are under heavy construction so I will be interested to see what else develops on this promising PW. Keep up the good work! ;) |
You really need to work on those overworld tiles. If you want to see what I mean, forum pm me and I will show you some overworld tiles I have on-line right now.

I have to admit, I kind of like it.
From what I see it's being executed well so far. Good luck guys. Oh, and maybe tweak the speed a bit, I may be walknig on the overworld but going that slow can get tedious. |
Thanks for your support guys. Zero did hours of
work on the OW NPC, making tiles block and non-block and setting boat tiles and stuff (which needs done, the deep water is not supposed to stop the boats!):( Unfortunately Zero left and put me in charge until he gets back, he did not say when he would be back or anything. And you can make a head, just find the gil-head1.gif head and use it as a template. You must name the head gil-head#.gif or else it wont be caught by the head setter NPC for the overworld. Command: setowhead 1,2,3,4 (3 is blocked i think...):rolleyes: |

And I was thinking between turnbased battle and stuff.. I think I would like to see tiny ganis for sword and stuff so people could fight on the overworld. That would be neat. Like a mix between Crono Trigger and Graal. Or maybe FF7 and Graal. An RPG that has turned based battle and Graal. :D It would look neat and probably be a bit tougher since the swords would be a bit small, but then on an RP server we dont really focus on PKing. |
I'm on the server right now, and the ow idea is very unique for Graal and nicely done. When in full-screen the gui is transparent but when in regular windowed mode it is 'dotty'. It's not the best thing ever, could use some more detail on the dragon on the main gui, but it gets the job done. The inventory is easy to use.
When I was choosing my stats, you need to make the gui hide though, because the time gui was in the way of the stats and didn't know what was the first item on all the lists. Also, I didn't know what to do for name selection, and now my character's name is Aa. :( The server has potential, and I'm interested to see how the battle system comes out. I think a system similar to that of Chrono Trigger would be best for Graal (and one of my favorites overall in rpgs). One last thing, don't do actual battles on the ow, make it warp you to a different level and do the battle, then get warped back after, because your character is way too small to see for something like that. |
I hope the whole server isn't like that level, because it was frustratingly slow. The graphics are peculiar, they need some depth and detail and maybe less bright colors. The GUI is good and bad at parts. The dotted part is ugly, if you remove the dots and fix the border a bit it might look nice. Bad texture effects on the HP bar, it looks ugly. The inventory works well though it looks plain. The text on all the graphics is kind of ugly, I just hope you people work on this a bit more. It might have potential.

The mini map system thing works very well. The tiles are perfect for the FF7 style idea, and I can see it all working out well.

Well after reading the mini reviews here, I decided to go and check Gileada out for myself. I was pleasantly surprised when I logged on as I was greeted by one of the staff members, Zero. He took it upon himself to take me around the server and explore all the secrets of the land, which was quite fun. ;) Just by the staff being friendly, I felt the feeling I'd like to come back here, as for me it's very important of the attitudes the staff have.
Since most things were covered in this thread by other people I'll just make this as brief as possible. There's quite an amount of things I like about this server. I especially liked the little travelling map with the cartoonish tileset, it's something different and original in my book. It was also nice how you could change the image you roamed the land with. Not sure if anyone else noticed, but I thought it was quite neat when you did the emotion Control+S that your head turns into a yellow smilie. :D Finally, yet importantly I liked the way you had to find the boat upgrades to be able to venture further into the depths of the server. It reminds me much of the old Valikorlia system of travelling, but in my opinion Gileada has executed the plan effectively. Now, don't get me wrong the GUI and inventory graphics are alright, but with the GUI in the top right hand corner needs to be changed. The font is unreadable and the speckled effect isn't really working, sorry. For the inventory, I think it would be nice if you could move it around and be able to manipulate transparency. With the tileset it just needs a few touch ups, such as getting the background of the weed to match the actual grass on the island etc. Also not sure if it's supposed to be like this, but when you have selected a weapon and left click on the screen, it seems to execute the weapon. Maybe it would be better so it only executes the weapon when you click on that weapon in the bottom right hand corner of boxes? Anyways, it's looking great. Keep up the good work and use the constructive criticism in this thread to your advantage. Best of luck in the future. :grin: |

for the players.. The GUIs are being worked on... Shard IceFire was supposed to be doing them but I don't know where he went. I might end up doing the GUI things. If you go on Gil now you'll see some new things, like there are locations you can enter on the overworld, some of them have an icon and some don't because they are hidden. Until you enter a location, it's name will be ??? but when you go in for the first time, it will set the name of it for any other time you go in it. And you can see the names of the places when you walk over their location.. I also updated a few sprites, including the Super Cloud which I know you people heard about... I wanted to keep those things private but.... :rolleyes: |

Keep in mind that all of this stuff isnt even close to alpha testing yet (cept the OW which is kinda alpha/kinda beta now) this server has been going n for about 3.5 years x.x. The system and Menu where made by me a long time ago back about 9 months ago and the OW idea+preview was made in 3 days xD (go figure...) And incase you are intrested...this server is going to be a RPG server much like most RPGs out there for Playstation and stuff. It has a HUGE interactive storyline with much depth and thickness. despite the fact that from what i saw there wasnt too much to do after getting the frigate, i didnt really want to leave yet =P usually i would but zero there greeting everyone and telling them what they could do made all the diffrence as for the gui...its too big for the few things that are on it...too much empty space that just well takes up space. |
dont worry....all these problems have already been well planned and accounted for...as for you only getting the frigate...there are 5 total secrets to find...one on each island (one fo the screts is just a tile used to get on a "cloud") you will no you havethem all when you can move between any of the isands freely.

A lot of things don't seem to work for me.
I got up to the part where I can set my head and colors and then I got stuck. I used unstick me and then was warped to main. I was stuck in main and so I had to reconnect a couple times. The start level is horrendous and has lots of tile errors. I had a hard time finding the exit. I found it when the message finally popped up. I'm not sure why I had bad lag. Probably bad connection on my part. I got into that part where the tiles and stuff load, but then boom I was stuck again and couldn't move or do anything. :( |

if you saw tile errors in the onlinestartlocal something wierd was going on for you caus ethere are no tile errors there...if you do unstick me in that stats level you will go to onlinestartlocal and not have the system...to fix this go north from osl and find the NW door and say "open reset". I must say for one alot of people are extremely lazy or illiterate because most people just DONT READ. All the instructons to set your stats are there you just use d to go foward, a to go back and up/down/left/right to change things. The only time you have to say something is whe you are doing colors and head img and body img other then that only the a,d,up,down,left,right!!! Now if that tile error was on the OW then either: a) you saw some random tiles which dont seem to convirt to the OW tileset some times (just move so they are off screen and then go back to fix it) or b) you saw the tile errors with the coloration of the grass being a little different with some of the grass tiles. These tile errors are just that tile errors not gfx errors...we are way to busy to be fixing such things like that right now especially in quite a short amount of time that level is going to be thrown away ne ways when the real OW is released. and the reson you couldn't move on OW is because the script for it is so large it takes a while to load (along with lag from loading tileset) and if it doesn't load simply reconnect and everything should work just fine ;) |
