Input on an idea
 

An idea came accross me today... why not make a Startrek playerworld (Authorization was allready sent in)? Would you guys play it?

I mean like, it wouldn't be anything like the show... just based off it. It would be kind of like a Graal 2230 with Startrek thrown in (With the differnt civilizations, starships, planets, etc)

Try to think about this. Dont just come on here and say 'STARTREK SUX' because then you're basing it off the show and not the idea.

Um. Trademark issues?

As I stated... we're waiting on Startrek's (Edit: And Paramount's) authorization for this idea. If they so no then we scrap the idea.

I like the idea, it sounds cool.

I'm not a Star Trek (Isn't it two words?) fan, but it would still work.

Graal needs a very well done futuristic server. :(

Exactly... some people wont do it because it means you'd pretty much have to redefine Graal itself.

But with Startrek themes... we wont have to try to invent new things and there will be a balance.

Well, it's a good idea I suppose, but it seems better to just finish 2230.

Nooo Startrek sucks.. If you could, get George Lucus' persmission for a Star Wars type server! Hell, I'd pay you to do that. :O

Personally im a huge star trek fan, but I don't think i'd be very interested cause there's no way it could meet my expectations... Graal itself makes it totally impossible to come anywhere near them i suppose.

It might work out, I would be surprised if they granted permission. Who knows, you might get lucky.

I doubt this idea will prevail. Futuristic servers are very hard to make. You would need very good developers to make it not look like crap, too.

You were ambiguous. And I doubt that they're gonna allow something like this; usually developers have to pay huge amounts of money for licenses.

It'd be better to simply create an original universe for the playerworld.

nice idea, but think of the scripting and levelwork that would have to go into it! it would be near-impossible to make the levels look good (especially if you're going for a nice 3d-look with the planets and terrain)

if you did it all in 2d it would be far easier to make, but it would look like every other graal server.. flat and boring. if you could pull it off you'd have like every player on your server....

its good idea, but a pain to impliment.

I was going to make something similar to Cosmic Rift(from sony)
but i don't have anywhere to test the scripts:(
