Ugh

Is it me or is something weird happening to the forums? Posts, sometimes pages of posts, go missing and then come back a few refreshes later.

It's not a conspiracy...the truth is out there!

CheeToS2 06-21-2003 03:26 AM

That happened to me when I wanted to see the lst post in Lyndzeys Account information thread.I also am seeing quotes from posts that i cant find anywhere in the thread. I guess that could be peoples posts being deleted.

Some posts were pruned, it plays havoc with the counters.

Some you do, some you don't. There's more to it than Aftershock's idiocy.

Different ones than that, I was referring to posts from the guy who arranged for my 3 day "hiatus".

Why are so many of Brett White's posts deletyed?

That's the guy.

And probably because they were all negative and annoying, and he was banned.

Kaimetsu 06-21-2003 04:30 AM

Brett and Kinatt were both banned. I think I probably know why, but I'm trying to dig up some confirmations nonetheless.

Brett was banned again?
Why were they banned? Can you say why you think?
I think kinatt should have been banned for that comment he made about Anu's friend

I can think of approximately 246(I think that was his post count) reasons why Brett should have been banned.

Kaimetsu 06-21-2003 04:47 AM

I'm not going to voice my suspicions lest I give anybody the wrong impression.

Expressing apathy toward's a person's death, however, is not a bannable offence.

Darlene159 06-21-2003 08:06 AM

lol, they both were asking to be banned

Kinatt was cool. In a annoying kind of way.

protagonist 06-21-2003 02:08 PM

Why was he cool?

adam 06-21-2003 02:34 PM

Yes, I've expereinced the weirdness too.

Neoreno 06-21-2003 03:15 PM

Kiirar's experienced no weirdness. But that's probably because Kiirar is oblivious.

An update counters needs to be run, but no one wants to do it, simply because of the time it will take for that to complete. Also kai, I'm doubting you want an update counters done as well.

Because it would take a significant chunk out of my post count, I know. But not only for that reason - some people have had posts transferred between accounts, some posted in my threads and thus would lose posts during the update etc. The gain would be miniscule.

Indeed. I only used you as your post count would be affected the most, and I do not know how many other people, or anyone else in specific off the top of my head that would be so largely impacted by the update counters.

The problem is though is that it needs to be done, as the MySQL tables are in pretty bad shape I imagine, and will only get worse.

Kaimetsu 06-21-2003 11:22 PM

I imagine the counters will be reset when the board is upgraded, if ever. At that time I can slide a surreptitious 'increase my post count by x' item into one of my request lists to Galen >=)

Not really. Update counters isn't run when you upgrade the forums.

Not automatically, but if Nova is getting everything shipshape then it would be an obvious step. It's how programmers think.
