Well guys as you all know im mroe or less into graphics, but yesterday i fiddled around with making a big house, and this is what i ended up with. please rate it, thanks
Looks okay. The level is very dark and the house is quite interesting.
what should the set effect value be? is it too dark?
I would recommend between .60 - .75
Somewhere around there would be good, but if the setting for the level is for very late at night then what you have it as should be fine. |
yes its a day night effect system i made which acts as a real clock (in the morning would be lighter and in the night would be dark) and it was night when i psoted the screenshots ^^
Is as it should be what are you smoking? You cant see anything in the level except some lights. No level should be that dark I mean you have to be able to see where you're going. You cant even see the buildings except maybe a line here or a line there in the screen shot. It's never that dark in real life.
Can you repost the screen shot so we can actually see the tiling. So far the lighting isnt overly impressive but that could just be because I cant see how its used in the level. Nothing worth rating until we can see some of the actual tiling. |

1.5/10
I'm feeling generous |
post a pic w/out lights
X_x you are not on DeBug much and your doing this X_X....well its ok so i guess i'll let you slide =P
That is pathetic. You people are a disgrace to use level makers. Go back to making your graphics and scripts. :(
i dont like dark it makes me angry, i mean a little bit dark is ok but that dark is stupid. and too many npcs to try and make the level better makes me angry too, im going to bed.
yeaaa.. Cali : Post a level please befofre you call ME crap.
Azreal : You may not like it but lighteffects can always be turned off and it looks better in slight darkness MKSLAYER: I am on debug but your not on when i am Eric : Whats wrong with it |
I posted many levels in the past, you should go check. I am working on Cynical now, so I cant show anything.
It's reall hard to see still but the darkness would be ok for a night time npc (but not really for showing off a level) From what I could see the paths where terrible. I would either take them out completely or at the very least try and redo them. The lights don't look very proffessional. They look like an attempt from some one who is a newbie with light scripts. (Hey we all where at one time just need practice) The tiling isnt to bad from what I can see. All in all I would say the level is about average. With some modifications it could probably even get a higher rating. The numger one thing I would do is change the paths. Then rethink the lights. I'd show you some suggestions but the computer I'm currently on doesnt show lighting effects.
5/10 |
Eric doesn't like the over-all design. He also hates things in the dark to try and hide your level. Your suppose to show your detailed level, not blind it in darkness and show some lights coming off it.
Nice, but make it less darker. n_n
-1 cuz first one is WAY too dark, and the second one looks funny for some reason.
-1 because the grass is boring -1 because when you used the path editor you didn't even do it well...I mean come on when you use that thing you have to make the stuff around it really nice :o . -1 because of those lights...i hate those weird square ones, light does NOT look like that  but the house design is general is really nice. however, if you're going to use those roof tiles that much, make the top corner tiles w/ black edges...it's not hard make a graphic. otherwise it looks really bad. so yeah 6/10. |
RedWizard(Scarab?or someting) You should post a level with no...NO darkness lights. What would you need a house that big for anyways?
City Manor
Its very creative but you emphasize too much on the same light npcs and too many of them. Try something new like this: lighten up the area a little more not too much i think alot of people just have their screen brightness down, script the npc lights so that only one of them is on at a time and when one goes off a few random seconds later another one comes on to show that someone might be moving around in the house ;) or have them all turn on and off randomly every few minutes to show that there are people in the house. Thats just a suggestion. Also it seems a few lights were randomly placed remove some of them too many bubble lights around. Fix the choppy grass to dirt tiles they are generated so you need to fiddle around with them to make them look a little better.

Damn Red, you got hit harder than I did when I posted my stuff here. :\
