Graal Message
I believe in the next patch that bloody feature where they can just put <graalmsg>(or whatever it is) #n</graalmsg> should be taken out, it's just repeatedly abused and I personally can see no practical use for it. People just use it to mass out flames and say #n is a hacker, etc.
|
it could be usefull if it is used in the npc server's message to the player. If you can customize the message, I would make it tell the player his/her stats or something cool like that.

N Pulse has it PM you a message when you log on so I don't see why you couldn't make it to do it. Having a customizable one so you could make it like a mini FAQ would be nice too. :) |

It was already taken out, but then it was added for use in npc server pms and such. It's not like it can hurt you anyway. If you get a mass with your name in it, you can probably guess its the graalmsg thing. Plus you can check the history if you really need to know, so I don't think it's that big of a problem. |
But here's the thing:
sendpm Joe,Hi there #a, how are you? It's surely not necessary for sendpm, unless I'm doing something wrong there? I've never actually used the command. |
Why not have a graalmessageallow= in server options, or remove the whole thing.
|
I also fail to see the necessity for it.

Exactly. The whole thing is useless, it's kind of stupid to say "well you know it's just graalmsg so you're fine" when you don't even need graalmsg worries there anyhow
|
yaaa.. I hate those messages = P To send dynamic news its just use sendpm anyway.
|
It should at the very least be able to be disabled by the server if the manager so desires, that way you don't have to deal with it unless the manager's one of the lamers promotin it
|
Just disable HTML in your PMs, I believe that should fix the problem. It's like anything else, if you don't like it ignore it...
Kai: To send PM, you have to generally have it on a with command or what-not. That's how it is done most of the time, but you can always do if (playertouchsme) { sendpm text;} There should be a sendpm2 though, sendpm2 acc, text; but then again you can do with (getplayer(acc)) or with (allplayers[i]) and filter out the acc name. ---Shifter |

guys, msg abusers get punished on some servers. I got jailed on 2k1 once for it (faq can jail?). besides, I never see it done anymore... also, I don't think the msg tags are blocked via blocking html. stop whineing, it can be fun sometimes. you can use alot of in game variables with it, too... <graalmsg>#v(int(random(1,9)))</graalmsg> thats a fun one I used once :D
anyways... if your gonna ***** then maby the tags should be limited to the npc server's pms rather removed all together. |
Does the NPC Server really need the <graalmsg> stuff? If I'd do "sendpm #n;" then the NPC server should replace #n with the nick name instead of doing "sendpm <graalmsg>#n</graalmsg>;" to make the client replace it.
In the newfeatures2001.txt they wrote that <graalmsg> can be used for personalizing PMs and the message of the day. I doubt you need it for sendpm. I think it's annoying, too, and it should be removed. Maybe there should be a checkbox in the options to enable it, but it should be disabled by default. (Newbies have been mentioned already). |

Yes, it is pretty pointless, although we used to have some fun on RC when doing stuff like <graalmsg>#n</graalmsg> will now be banned for hacking blahblah... ;) |
