Graphics miracle program

Does anybody know of a program that meets these specifications?

MS-Paint with a "transparent" color that you can use to just paint pixels transparent like any other color, no fancy crap.

And .png support in the graal-friendly form... not so much png support cause there's a program to do that for you in the graal folder... any suggestions?

If you wanna be a show off, make one :O

Acererak 08-28-2002 06:41 AM

I've had no problems with my combo of Photo Editing Software, Paint, and Animagic.

I'm fine with working on paint with a white background, then switching it to some odd color, then moving onto Photoshop (Since it's all I got) and turning it into a transparency using GIF, then moving onto Microsof Photoeditor to turn it into a PNG....

:X

HoudiniMan 08-28-2002 09:03 AM

Could somebody give me a step by step on how to do it on photoshop?

I make the graphic in paint
funky color for what i want transparent
save to a bmp
open in photoshop
-----------------
-----------------
-----------------
use program that comes with graal to turn the gif into a .png

Acererak 08-28-2002 10:53 AM

I do what he said but i use animagic to convert it into gif format because sometimes I animate my graphics.

James 08-28-2002 11:45 AM

In Photoshop, the possibilities are endless, it depends on if you know what you are doing though.

Zakur 08-28-2002 12:06 PM

I just use MSPaint, some program that shadrock sent me to turn .bmps to gifs and add transparencies, and the gif2mng program included with graal.

Yep, I basically use MSPaint for all my graphics, then I copy the pics to animagic, where you can animate, or set transparency.. Then I just save as gif..

You can use the program that comes with Graal to make gif's into pngs, so that is basically the entire package.

TheKaizer 08-30-2002 01:24 PM

Program XD

Hey Houdini! I've had this program for a while, it lets you set a transparency color really easily, and it also turns a .bmp into a .gif, and vice-versa! after that, just use the gif2mng program that came with Graal (I know people have said that already :( ) Kay, well, see you on Graal :o

IceHawk 08-30-2002 01:50 PM

I use PSP, PS is too complicated for what I use graphic editors for.

Exactly the same...
Now I should figure out why the hell I'm browsing the Graal forums.

I like the GIF Construction Set Professional and PNG/MNG Construction blah blah from Alchemy Mindworks. Both are free shareware downloads. The primary GFX editor is actually MSPAINT, so it's easy to use, but the program converts it to GIFs or PNG/MNGs. I'd post a link but someone might decide to ban me for reasons I have no control over...

Go to Yahoo and search for "mindworkshop" (all 1 word). You'll find the site easily enough; at least one of their pages should be like the top link.

IceHawk 08-31-2002 01:33 AM

the XP Paint can save in bmp, gif, png, jpg and a couple of others.

Sir_Gareth 08-31-2002 01:40 AM

Photoshop. No reason to use Paint Shop Pro.

They're both usually used for a different purpose than converting transparencies. It was stupid to do, stating that there was "no reason to use photoshop".

no, because photoshop is used for and made for mainly professional graphics and webdesign. paint shop pro was made for whatever you choose to dish out.

i hardly think it was "stupid" to say it, and so i said it. if people choose to ignore it; fine. whatever. i'm just giving a little tip here. no big deal

Thanks for all your opinions, I just got back from a small 5 day thing to my dad's house (divorced parents ) so sorry if it's a bit late. I'll try your program kaizer, all i really wanted was a step by step on making transparencies... I use mspaint and gif2mng.exe i just had a hard time making the things transparent =\ Oh well :)

Animagic is super easy to make transparencies.. you just put your animation in it, then go to "Transparent color..." then it gives you an eyedropper tool, and you just click the color in your picture that you want transparent. It will make that color transparent in every frame.

yeah jasc does that too, but the animation shop doesn't seem to actually apply the transparency.
oh well, i don't make animations that much to worry, so i never really cared. neh =/
