Ugh...

I tried to celebrate Fourth of July on graal, but of course retarded Canadians and foreigners decide "OMG WE WILL LIEK ATTACK TEHEM". Did we ******* do this on Canada Day? Show some damned respect.

Lionel-Jonson 07-04-2002 11:57 PM

Yes.

Birdbird_0 07-05-2002 02:00 AM

I had to prevent some of the staff (not saying who) from making the 4th of july too big. Graal is composed up of minoritys and majoritys, you cannot allow the staff to favor a countrys holiday simply because it is a majority, if they did what they were going to do, than they would have to celebrate allt he countrys national holidays around the world, and that is just overwhelming, sure a large holiday can be aranged celebrating everything, just for fun, but they wanted to go too far on 2k1 with the 4th of july, I personaly could not let that happen, fireworks, little flag npcs are fine, but doing more than that is too much to allow considering the make up of graal's players.

Wish there was a fire works display they were setting up :(

Birdbird_0 07-05-2002 02:02 AM

Also, alot of people called me afwal names and critisized me so much for stopping the escilation, I don't mind getting called so many things, as long as they udnerstand my resoning for preventing such a massive event for a majority, gah, you know what I mean

jeff335 07-05-2002 02:27 AM

Bird, I only have one problem with your reasoning, and it is:

If a Canadian or someone doesn't want to celebrate the Fourth, they don't have to. We are not closing the diamond hammer and axe merchants for Independence Day. If the British want the Union Jack raised over the Admin House for Bonfire Night, then more power to them.

zell12 07-05-2002 02:28 AM

All I wanted to do was to put little flags on admin house :(
And the guy that made this thread can go fux off. I'm Canadian, I wanted Canada day, and its only fair for the american's to have their day. So, I uploaded the lil flag npc. So really, what more did we get?

No you're not closing the diamon hammer and axe, but, nither are the admins jumping to make things for the british, or swedens, or ukrainians, or russians, or mexicans .ect

XxxxneosoftxxxX 07-05-2002 02:48 AM

1. anyone who celebrates 4th of July over the internet, particularly graal, has absolutely no life.

Domini 07-05-2002 03:00 AM

*****s, if we could have Canada Day, then Americans can have their Independance Day.

I have nothing against celebrating national holidays, just as long as everyone drops absolutely everything to work on one country's holiday, only to turn around and forget the next country's day.

konidias 07-05-2002 07:34 AM

Here is a simple solution. Don't celebrate REAL holidays on Graal. Instead, Graal should have holidays (of course it wouldn't be serverwide) But like, 2k1 could have "Bomy Day", an Anniversary, something like a christmas where people give eachother gifts (doesn't have to be anything like christmas otherwise), something like easter, and something like halloween.

I mean, last year Stefan celebrated Halloween on 2k1 with the whole haunted house thing that had a dancefloor and pk area with masks and candies and everything. He doesn't celebrate Halloween in his country though. I don't think it's a huge deal if a few people want to celebrate a special day.

But I feel that religion and ethnic cultures/backgrounds should not be on Graal. No actual Christmas with a baby jesus and whatnot, no 4th of July, no actual churces for religions, etc. I'm sure we are all very proud of our backgrounds or whatever, but it doesn't need to be in the game. I think people play Graal to get away from everyday life and the real world. Not to play the real world online. It's fantasy, that's the point.

jeff335 07-05-2002 08:59 AM

I think that having various anniversaries and notable birthdays celebrated would be a good idea. The following should be celebrated:

Stefan's Birthday - Gift giving, like Christmas
Graal Anniversary - Parties like the Fourth of July or New Year's Day
Newmain Anniverary - Bomy- and hat-related gifts, like Easter

Stop trying to link the image from your hard drive, it needs to be on the web.

Falcor 07-05-2002 10:36 AM

I wouldn't get offended if Graal celebrated Things like Chanukah and not Christmas. (Although Chanukah isn't really a major Jewish holiday). I know as a company, it needs to be "politically correct” but frankly, I couldn't really care any less.

He wasn't in the god damn terminal, he was at the ticket counter. He never had to go through security, so it really doesn't matter whether or not the news broadcasters' had demonstrated the complete ineptitude of LAX security, does it?

I don't know about you, but I feel a lot safer having reporters demonstrating the need for greater security measures than the terrorists.

Yeah I heard he was outside of the airport, walked in and shot people.

vsignasv 07-06-2002 12:03 AM

Oh well we still shouldn't be showing people how to sneak past security.

And btw I am flying into LAX from JFK to go see ozzfest.

Its a little odd that major "bad thingies" have happened at both airports.
