Graal lag

do you think stefan should search for more ways to make graal less laggy....maybe it might attract more people because if it doesnt lag its alot more fun....maybe a offline server thing where no one sees you and you have your own stats and its like your all alone and you can save where your at on it...but you have different stats than online stats? do you think that would be cool? like getting to updates faster and seeing em?? or is this just a idea thats not going to be used?

lag is only a problem if you let it become one. be aware and upgrade your computer, we shouldn't have to suffer because of your outdated graphics card or whatever...

funnylinkwantsbomys 05-26-2002 05:01 AM

i have a radeon ati 32 mb gfx card with g3d and glide and almost every support that can be connected to my tv...

I also agree with him cause I have a very good internet connection that ranges from 1.8 mbs to 4 mbs and I still lag at times.

Saga2001 05-27-2002 04:38 AM

Ummmm...
a lot is two words...
Also it would be cool to reduce lag, however its not an easy task...

Admins 05-27-2002 08:07 PM

We are always working on reducing lag,
optimizing the scripting engine, finding new faster servers, etc.

Minoc 05-30-2002 10:27 PM

Slow computer doesn't make lag, all depends on your internet connection speed.
But Graal is too slow, I have Pentium3 700MHZ 128MB RAM and Voodoo3 3000, I don't get why a game like Warcraft3 runs smooth on my computer on 960x720 and graal works too slowly ;(

Poogle 05-31-2002 12:55 AM

The only time I get laged is when Im on 2002 walking outside of the house i logged off in then every time after that its okay

because graal uses alot mroe resources because its not programmed in such a great way? i eman its good but its not as good as starcraft. also, its written in delphi, which is not QUITE as fast as c++ which most games are written in. i think.

adam 06-02-2002 01:30 PM

odd indeed.

Tyhm 06-06-2002 01:16 PM

Whatever you say, but you probably quit because of the fact you would have been fired for letting a cheater on your account, a banned one for that.

Hell Raven never used my Graal account, only my forums account.
I was banned because of that, but after 2 days (when the GPs recieved RCs on player accounts) I got back on duty :P
After 1 day, I decided to quit, I had many reasons, I wouldn't have been fired anyways, I just had no reason to stay =\
A day after I quit people started telling me there was a hacker on my account or something =\ I'm not sure if it's true though, but it wasn't Hell Raven.

mastervampire 06-06-2002 06:49 PM

Heh, ok thanks for clearing that up then ;)

BS!
If the server cpu is lagged/slow (which more than likely is, because it has X many players on at one time sending and recieving constantly, having to cache and catch up), and/or the client cpu slow, then anything will lag.

I dont care what your processing power is, you are always going to lag some what, that's just the way windows is.

Graal isnt coded like crap either. Graal has to run off it's original language (delphi), and Gscripts....which has to be converted back into an object in the executable. I dont think WC3 has it's own language it has to support, an editor (built in), multiple levels at once, a debug window that reads and processes all the scripts, and a million other things that graal has.

Graal may lag a lil'bit, but for what it does, it's awsome IMO.

Argue that.

I wasn't talking about lag
I was talking about Graal working slow, it's the same if there are 10 players or 100 players
working slow is not LAG!

From what I've seen, poorly scripted NPCs can also make Graal run slow. So if you're scripting things offline and you run slow, or you're using a test NPC online and running slow... yeah. If not... blame the server staff and plot to overthrow them, take over the world, and make marshmellows the official currency. Always works for me. -whistles innocently-
