How, When and Why?

Today I was thinking about why I started playing graal.. I was wondering why you guys started playing, how you found out about the game and when you started playing.

I started playing around 2 years ago, The way I found out about the game is because I know someone who had it and I thought it was cool.

:o So please try and use those brains that are sizzling at the computer screen, think back and remember How, When and Why!

[Kaimetsu]

I woke up one day and found myself surgically attached to the Graal servers. The rest is history.

I can't really remember.. I think I was just searching for an online rpg that was like zelda and that was the first thing that came up.. maybe I found out about it at some forums or something.. I played it, beat everything, got all the items, and quit for 6-8 months.. then came back and got into classic guilds and stuff and I was on and off then.. then the reset on classic came and I left for 2k1 heh heh.

Veni, Vidi, [Whatever Latin is for "I played"]

mrkriton 01-22-2002 11:03 PM

I was chatting with my friends and one of them brought up the idea on graal. Back during Version 1.23....Now i sorta have an addiction but its starting to wear off because i been playing Infantry and nothing new has been put onto the G2K1 server so its sorta pointless to go on, run around like a complete tool, attack a couple of people, then get off.

Hehe np :)
I read it off of a poster and the first two words sounded familiar so I just threw Vici in

Googi 01-22-2002 11:36 PM

I used to play Neopets and a friend of mine there by the name of DuskRequim told me about a game named graal he had just started playing like, 10 minutes ago.

A friend reffered me. I downloaded it, and signed onto "N-Pulse." I was completely lost, and constantly killed. I then exitted out. Didn't open the program again for a few months, and then decided to play "Bravo Online" where a DBZ fanatic helped me find all of the hearts, and other upgrades.

Shorty2Dope 01-23-2002 01:11 AM

My friend made me get it and play it like 2 years ago. :( I quit like few days later, then he made me come on and play, then I got hooked on bravo, then left, then came back to play g2k1.

Xythar 01-23-2002 01:15 AM

There was a link on the links page of Ice's Zelda Central (formerly an excellent Zelda site), describing it as "kind of like multiplayer Zelda III." I thought it sounded cool, so I came and played for a few months, got sick of it and deleted it. Then one or two months later I was surfing around the internet, reminded the game, downloaded it again, and gaped in shock at all the changes there had been. I upgraded three months later.

feivel 01-23-2002 01:17 AM

I have no clue how I found out about it lol

mrkriton 01-23-2002 02:41 AM

thats super for you..::claps slowly::

_0AfTeRsHoCk0_ 01-23-2002 02:58 AM

A friend at school told me, I played Classic, stayed on Classic until I upgraded to 2001

Juron Pilo 01-23-2002 05:38 AM

on impulse... I ran a search for Zelda Online(just using those keywords... not intending to find a game called that) and linked my way to Graal=D

Boozy_Bravo 01-23-2002 05:55 AM

A friend pestered me to look play it, I said no cause I thought it looked dumb. But he eventually got me to download it...
Then I got addicted. :(
Edit: As for when, it was sometime in the summer of 2000. I started on Bravo and played there untill it went P2P. :(

Funkee 01-23-2002 08:38 AM

wow all pretty good reasons I guess lol.. most people have been told by some1 to get it so that obviously means that there is like a Graal Life Cycle and its growing lol..

Griffyn 01-23-2002 08:42 AM

hehe, i was looking for zelda codes, then i found java graal, from there i went to the offical site, and started playing version 1.31. ;)

Funkee 01-23-2002 08:57 AM

Hi, btw, since there is no [Kaimetsu] stuff, this is Shaun, just incase you didn't figure it out, because the dumb people seem to outnumber the smart, so you might be one of them...

Anyways, it started out as my being obsessed with the Legend of Zelda, and lots of hype around Ocarina of Time (which lived up to the hype in my opinion), and on one Zelda Site I went to, there was a link to a game (some long web address, it looked like the first zelda, but different storyline). I loved this game. So, I went to good old Yahoo, and searched for Zelda Games or something like that, and found Graal on www.cyberjoueur.com . It was more popular then it is now, it used to have people on it all the time, although it was super laggy, silly java... I also got involved in the Bomberman there, but after I beat everybody (I own Super Bomberman 1, only released in Canada and Japan, even then it's rare, and it's in complete English too! Worth hundreds of dollars.), nobody would play with me, so I went back to Graal, although instead of chairs it used "stakes" that you couldn't sit on. It was fun, and I played it for a long time. This was 3 or 4 years ago.

Many months after playing the game, I realized it had a link to "Graal Online", Graal's official website. The website was different, there were like 3 sections, Treasure Box, Sign, and maybe something else... Anyways, I played this one. I remember also about 6 months to a year later there were playerworlds on other servers. Some of these servers included Odin Server, Damasca (my fav), and Bravo. Also, I remember something about Olorin quitting, and there was a new Graal website layout. This was all very interesting, and tons of fun. I actually left "Main Server" for awhile to play on Damasca, until Damasca started having troubles, and wasn't on as much, then I had to return back to Laggy Main.

After awhile, Graal started to host other playerworlds. I don't remember which ones, but I remember Khalaria from Main was there (Now named Valkiloria or something I think). Later on, I remember Damasca being put up, and so that's where I went, until I realized the players weren't the same =( . Nobody had any respect for each other, and there were "hackers"/cheaters, and it had the same type of players Main started getting recently. So I left...

Once in awhile, I would go to Damasca and check it, just for playersake (I remember friends like Malus, Kain, Linkson,Kirath, Kain, etc.). Once though when I checked, there were kingdoms. I really liked this. I joined in the kingdom Alkemia, and soon after became General for my sparring and rp skills. Life was fun. Later on, there was an account reset, and I couldn't be bothered to get all the hearts and stuff, so I was then Councellor. Eventually, King Bowlich replaced me, I didn't know why, but I was, so I was going to run for King in the next election, too bad by the time that was almost there, Damasca was taken down...

I didn't know what to do, then my friend in real life Richard (people in NPulse should know him), whom I got to start playing Graal (among other people...) told me that he got me a job as Head LAT on an upcoming server, named Dolphonia. I was curious why I got a job out of the blue without knowing about it, but, I accepted it. I loved the time in Dolphonia, that was the best time of my Graalian life... I'll skip the details, Ghost_Hacker, whome I damn to this day, had FTP, demanded power, didn't get it, and deleted all the levels in the FTP. We just put them back up, got him mad. Then, he massed it out for awhile. Soon, everybody wanted power now they had FTP. I remember myself and Ne0 trying the hardest to keep it up, alongside Delph and KawaiiSaRia who weren't as informed I suppose. But, we failed, Dolphonia died...

After the death of Dolphonia, where did I go? A new server, Sanstrata... This place was nice, and I found my friend from Damasca, Jinx was there, and eventually, tons of people from Damasca. I was hired by Prozac as a member of the LAT there, and worked along people such as Sabin and Chris Rubeus. I was later on given FTP, because I was trusted, and I didn't abuse it, I was really good with it, didn't break a single rule. I was soon promoted to Assistant Head LAT, second in the LAT only to Sabin the Owner and Head LAT. Jinx, who ultimately at the time was GM (Game Master) was going to hire an Assistant Game Master, it seemed I was going to get it, but I decided that somebody else was more deserving, Tori. I enjoyed Sanstrata, until, it lost a lot of honour, both within the staff and the players. Staff backstabbed each other for more power, how I hated it. At this point, I was Head LAT, and I worked hard, but it was wasted because of some stupid people that got me mad after putting ransoms on my head. I quit.

I noticed on Main Server News, now called Graal Classic, that the current Head LAT, Tyhm, was opening LAT Applications. I decided that I would try it, to much of my avail, I got in. (I tried once before at the LAT Apps before this, but didn't make it in) Problem was working on Classic was time consuming, I loved working for Classic, because contrary to what people think, the Classic people are very nice, nicer than most G2K1 regulars, I can tell you that. I never got one negative pm from the players on Classic, and answered every last question or comment about levels within the limit to my knowledge (only an IQ of 151 at the time, although it's 166 now). I didn't get to be creative at classic as the jobs on the other servers, and other problems in my life interfered, I soon quit Classic.

After that, I found that Delph, the old owner of Dolphonia, was still around. I literally begged him to bring back Dolphonia. After a few months, he gave me the levels pack, and told me it was mine now. If he ever returns, I will step down and let Delph take over again however. So here I am now, working on Dolphonia, making it better than before, almost a loop. This is my basic life in Graal, although I left out tons of things.

My brother introduced Graal too me. I was asking him about online games, and he brought up Graal, although he said it wasn't much fun.

I've played since [insert version#] and have enjoyed it :). My brother was incorrect about the fun factor ;O
