g2k2 - wuts the deal?
mmmk i'm too lazy to go look'n fer an answer or even to ask people...all I want is a full explination: i had the understanding 2k2 was to be released christmas day and i stay up to 11:30 at night to find out it's just a preview (of course i didn't stay up to actually download the "preview"). . . did i miss something?
|
no its coming out later tonight, even if you do get all the files for it you'll need an account which is only for people involved with the project i think

Gah.. when the server is opened to the public the 2k1 accounts will work, but for now it is closed only to people with special 2k2 staff accounts.

I think the preview shouldn't be timed
and we should only beable to stay in the intro levels or something =X |
"Special" friends hooked me up to play 2002 online, and it's not really all that great :(

why
|
It wasn't ready.. plus it was like 1 in the morning Eastern US time when it came out.. so Stefan decided to hold it another time.. I believe that is the reason anyway.
No one can currently play on 2k2 unless they work for 2k2, so don't believe anyone saying "I am playing right now!@$" because they aren't. Also, it would probably be best to wait for 2k2 preview to come out before downloading 2k2, because the setup will probably change when the preview is released. So don't go downloading 2k2 now, not only because it's probably the incorrect version, but several people are putting trojans in them and getting others to download them from unofficial sites, or sending it to people. |

but anyways the question still remains |

STEFAN IS ON GRAAL!!!GET ON AND WAIT FOR HIS MASS

Stefan (12/26/01 5:22:34 PM):
Mass message: Sorry for the things that happened yesterday. It was not professional to say we will do the preview at christmas and then there is only chaos. We have changed the plans for it, we plan to release it next week (tuesday?). We will open it for several hours and afterwards turn on the ghost mode so you can watch new things added there. This will be better than doing the preview thing now, because we will have time to remove all bugs we see (the engine for sending the data was made at monday evening...) and prepare things so that you have more fun with it. I hope you understand that *gets bombed with PM-complains* |

Brilliant, Tuesday... New Years Eve?

it's written like its a rumour? There has never been any virus or trojan in any file from graalonline.com. If there are trojans in cheating programs then that's not our fault. |
Well, at least we get to see Graal 2002 develop after the preview :)
|
First Christmas, now New Years Eve!? Geesh.

Don't get your hopes up for Graal2002. Seeing as everything these days revolves around staff, unless you are able to completely ignore them, you will find it to be the largest grouping ever of the most talented, irritable, immature, arrogant, and selfish staff ever to have more power than they'll ever need on a single server.
I intend to roleplay, and I hope I have the patience to ignore it, but at this moment I don't. |

Alkaren, I think that I am Dante's role-model

It's simple... I've worked on 2002 and seen how selfish, arrogant, vindictive, complaintive, and talented those staff are. The difference is, on 2002, every one of them has FTP, RC, NC, NPC control, and a firm sense of undeniable birthright to every ounce of respect of every player, staff, programmer, and human being on earth. Am I acting out of character? Maybe it's because I'm so disgusted.

Normal Human behavior? Maybe. Common human behavior? Hardly. I'm wholly charmed by most peoples' actions, and happy to appreciate their company. So, this is certainly the exception. Too bad the people I know on Graal are about 50% more tolerable than 90% of the people I know in real life. But, I don't want to talk about that now.

Dante has a point. I don't want my role-playing on that server to be manipulated and twisted by the staff because what they do is what they think is "better". In fact, if we had very minimal staff it would be better so there could be no finger pointing or other problems

No one forces you to be here. If you are so disgusted, than leave. |
Also, let me remind everyone..just because you have power, doesn't mean you will use it, or abuse it. To assume otherwise is sterotypical.
