Killstreaks
I think these need to be removed; they encourage running and laming. Deaths were removed from profile to discourage running and laming but that had almost no effect because people still want those 15 kill streak crates.
Thoughts? |
I say you just add the box drop to any random kill, and it wont be score streaks. O.o

Why not add a timer that starts in between kills? One minute goes by and their kill streak ends.

I think the team are currently trying to figure out why items are being duped every single day for no reason.

Nah, wasn't the trade system or anything similar. Following some hardware changes there were some permission errors to adjust. Unixmad and I were working closely to get this resolved and it's all good now :) There were some issues with the mall failing to check flags properly (z-z) and it caused some issues but we should be back to normal.
But yes, I'm not a fan of the killstreaks in place at the moment. We're working on a bunch of changes and I hope to be rolling them out pretty soon, however it will take time :) |

The problem is at this point I don't think the server can be re-taught how to not run or lame since these tactics have been the most successful strategy for the last few years. On top of that we have a pretty laggy server overall (things have gotten way worse in the last 2 years) so it might be too late to save the fun experience that I'm hoping can get brought back. |
I don't think there's a way to discourage laming. Whether you're running to or from someone, you can still lame.
But you can discourage running by modifying the killstreak system into something that uses kills per minute as a metric instead of kills without deaths. Say it rewards you based the amount of kills you got within the last 10 minutes, regardless of deaths. You would be incentivized to rush into wherever there's a big fight and kill as many people as possible without worrying about dying. That being said, you would still have people running because if you're trying to maximize your kills per minute, running would probably be less of a time waster than dying and running back 4 times. I say make people spawn with full health after dying :) |

Likewise this prevents people from farming ridiculous (and what I'd call 'fake') kill streaks where they will sit in osl for 5 minutes and heal up and wait for all their elixer and armor timers then go kill whatever noobs they can find and repeat for hours on-end. I also tried this full hp respawn thing, it doesn't really work since by the time you unstick you would've healed fully anyway with 2 bed ticks and a icecream. It just dissuades people from using food items. |

Everyone should just get an item crate every 10 kills, that will be better.
